Y'all get ready for a smear campaign piece...
Has anyone heard of Dr. Eric Berg from YouTube? He's all about holistic wellness. Normally, I don't check on someone's credentials when seeking advice (although, maybe I should). But when I came across one of this YouTube videos, I knew something wasn't right. And his credentials, or lack thereof, back up my suspicions about him.
I listened to one of his videos on healing from autoimmune disease. He seemed to talk bout all the correct things you need to address except...
- He oversimplified the healing process. His message was very misleading because each facet of the healing process he made seem very straightforward.
- If there's one thing I've learned about auto immune issues, it's that everyone's disease is individualistic on some level. There absolutely is no one-size-fits-all solution to stopping/reversing auto immune diseases.
- All the information he gathered can easily be found and compiled by anyone with who uses Reddit. Nothing he explained in the video was new to me.
His explanation came across as info that was compiled by a layman. And it was very much, "jack of all trades, master of none".
I'd come across his videos in the past but visually, they were very gimmicky-looking. He's excellent at marketing. His thumbnail videos draw in the user. For me, that's usually a sign that there may not be any real substance in the actual content.
My mother is always singing the praises of Dr. Berg. His scripts are well-written and easy to understand. But the first and most important reason this man's videos are so popular on YouTube? He is a WHITE... MALE. And of course, this is a huge part of the reason my mother worships him.
As a white male, you have instant credibility. Shit can literally be spewing out of your mouth yet, if you're a white male, people are more willing to believe in you than a black female doctor with several degrees and a strong background in lab research and clinics.
Did I also mention that his only medical accreditation shown on his website is a chiropractic degree? Chiropractors are notorious for getting into the lucrative market of holistic wellness.
Also, according to his website bio, HE HAS NO CLINICAL EXPERIENCE!
