You can run, but you will never be free.

Half a year after the events of Heart Of Dust, Doran Ó Seanáin now finds himself trapped between two worlds while belonging to neither. Held in contempt by the upper class for the turmoil he caused during Archon Bryson’s reign and resented by the miners for selling out, Leonora Darkwater’s bid to purchase the mines from the crown may be his salvation. But the offer is far more complicated than it appears, and the only person Doran trusts is the same man who threw his life into chaos.

Haunted by his past, held hostage by his debt to the Archon, and a slave to the poison that keeps him alive, atonement feels perpetually out of reach for Nathaniel Morgenstern. Too much damage has been done and too much has gone unsaid for time alone to heal the wounds between him and Doran.

Unfortunately, time is the one thing they don’t have as their lives collide once more. There are vipers in Arajon; the mines aren’t finished with Doran, and the sand in Nathaniel’s hourglass is running out.

Soul Of Ash is now available to pre-order as an ebook on Kobo and Kindle (for release on 21 September), and is currently available in paperback on Amazon in the US, UK, Germany, France, Estonia, Italy, Japan and Canada.

Heart Of Dust and Soul Of Ash are the first two books of the Death’s Embrace series. Death’s Embrace is an LGBT+ fantasy romance series. I hope you enjoy the books as much as I enjoyed writing them. ❤

Please consider reblogging this post - any and all help spreading word is hugely appreciated. Thank you again to all of my supporters!!

If you haven't read Heart Of Dust yet, I'm currently giving out free copies of the ebook in exchange for honest reviews.

Doran had a problem, and it wasn’t that he’d been stabbed.

Iole City is in turmoil. Doran Ó Seanáin, leader of the Black Lung Gang, is determined to bring the Archon, Arajon’s tyrannical ruler, down for his brutal treatment of the miners. But Doran has more to deal with than getting stabbed and a city-wide lockdown that’s seeing his gang of ex-miners being slowly starved out of their base. His daughter Grace has turned against him, and the weight of his wife’s death haunts them both.

Things start to look up when he’s inexplicably drawn to Nathaniel Morgenstern, the apotheker with a mysterious past he owes his life to, but Doran is in way over his head. The fate of the mines hangs in the balance; the clock is ticking and the Archon is closing in.

Doran’s plan to break the cycle may very well be his last.

Heart Of Dust is available to purchase for both Kobo and Kindle, and in paperback via Amazon. Want to know more? Check out the reviews on Goodreads.

IT’S FINALLY HERE! I’m very lucky to receive free copy for honest review. I’m still reading it but it’s so good! The characters! The settings! The intrigues! And I’m so glad we get to see from Nate’s PoV now because that man dry wit is just gold! Cant’ wait to finish this book!

Drama Emperor Alfred Pennyworth

Alfred is the real hero. Fucking fite me!!!

Excuse me, everyone is always about Batman being so cool ans Spider-Man so funny but there is only one true emperor of snark in the comics realm and it’s Alfred Pennyworth.

And it’s true for every incarnation

Every. Fucking. One.

One of my fav panels from Bendis’ IIM run.

So after a messy inter-dimensional threat, Stephen came to aid. The topic revolves around the event that just took place, until…..

Tony mentioned “Doom”, and from that second onward, Stephen’s attention was like……

Just take a look at Stephen’s speech bubbles, and tell me one single word that is used most frequently in these conversations. And tell me that’s not the name of an infamous dictator.

Tony tries to talk about the situation “Is it safe”?

Stephen: “Uh. Sure.” (seems like what I reply with when I am half carried away) And then he immediately changes the topic back to “Doom” again.

LOL

Also super sweet that Stephen is the ONLY person in this entire ANAD universe who believed that Victor had a change of heart and is heroic.

Why it doesn’t surprise me? To me Doomstrange are two souls who understand each other on so many levels, more than anyone else in this world.

Stephen “Anyway, about Victor von Doom-” Strange

It always bugged me what happened after Secret Wars and why no one remembered it, especially those directly involved in Battleworld. Then I found out that Reed erased most people’s memories, including Stephen and Victor. I can understand why he did to Victor, but Stephen?

Perhaps it was because of what Victor did to him, but again, Stephen died before. He isn’t afraid of death and, most of all, he treasures the time he spent with Victor through the years.

Then I realized that, even with his memories tampered, Victor remembered it all, which makes me conclude that Stephen, as the Sorcerer Supreme, also recalled his time in Battleworld.

And that’s important because Stephen still holds him dearly. They’ve never talked about what happened, and even so, he cares about Victor. He forgave him way before Victor decided to become the Infamous Iron Man.

Now, what if Victor’s motivation to be a hero was not only based on the fact that Reed was nowhere to be found, but also because he blamed himself for murdering the only friend he has ever had? The only person that was there for him in the worst moments of his life?

See, he didn’t say “you and others”. It’s “you or others”. Because Victor puts Stephen at first. He’s probably talking about Battleworld and he’s still struggling to cope with guilt.

I really like to think that he’s doing it, obviously, to atone for his sins, but mostly because he can’t tell Stephen he’s sorry. Still, he is very grateful for their story together.

I personally like to believe too that Stephen remembers to Battleworld. It would be very Stephen-like to just not bring it up. Not until Doom chooses to.*

Alternatively (and I also like to imagine this too) that he remembers not pictures but feelings, the impression BW left in him, which leads us to…

He isn’t afraid of death and, most of all, he treasures the time he spent with Victor through the years.

Let’s stay Stephen feels that something horrible happened to him but he doesn’t recall feel or hatred, hell, he might go “I must have died” and it is related to Doom, that much he knows/feels and yet, how he felt toward Doom in the past didn’t change for the worse. It got stronger, even. And now he sees Victor like that, new, changed and he’s coming there to help. He’s a doctor, that’s what he does. He sits with Victor– and here I can’t not mention the pillow moment when he mentioned Doom likes green. Sure, Victor is all about green but besides that being true it also feels like a very very lighthearted teasing to create a better atmosphere around them. Something with less distance between them that Victor tries to keep there, Stephen wants that wall down and be casual.  Even before that, though.

Nothing like cracking wizard jokes around the Infamous Iron man almost no one trusts, right? Victor could have ulterior motives with all this but whatevs, Doctor Strange is just going to be like that around Victor because he can’t help that.

*Bonus: Doom could assume Stephen knows what happened as well and one day he just calls Stephen out not very kindly on it, accusing Stephen of thinking Doom is that dumb that he wouldn’t find out that the Sorcerer Supreme could also put the pieces back together or having all his memories and Stephen softly says it wasn’t the case but he was waiting for Doom to be ready to bring it up. Doom grunts. Don’t patronise him, Stephen.

Day 982 Doctor Doom still doesn’t know how to cope with Stephen’s kindness. Fuck off, Stephen, making Doom feel these things he never asked for, not from you. Doom needs no one. How dare you, Stephen.

@osheets casual doomstrange alert

Oh, I love every single thing in this. Both ideas are simply amazing. I like to think that the green pillow was a way to prove that Stephen knows Victor deeply. Yeah, of course, it’s easy to conclude that Victor is all about green. Yet, that’s not necessarily true. He could wear it as a sign of nationalism and pride, but in a personal level, it could be just another color. But he likes it. And that’s how Stephen makes Victor feel comfortable. It’s what he does.

He’s considerate and always ready to prepare the environment for Victor because they’ve seen the deep parts of each other. Stephen believes in him and will always try to be supportive and empathic.

Meanwhile, I also like to think that Stephen doesn’t bring Battleworld up because he knows it’s hard for them. It’s hard because they were so close and everything got out of control. And Stephen knows guilt, he knows Victor regrets what he did, but it’s up to him to talk about it. Stephen is fine. He’s ready to show Victor that he doesn’t resent this episode. In fact, he can see how hard it is for Victor to elaborate guilt for what happened. Damn, he’s trying to be a superhero. He’s trying to be the Iron Man, knowing perfectly well that everyone on Earth despises him. Everyone but Stephen.

Day 982 Doctor Doom still doesn’t know how to cope with Stephen’s kindness. Fuck off, Stephen, making Doom feel these things he never asked for, not from you. Doom needs no one. How dare you, Stephen.

I share the same thought that Victor is only a tsundere trying to cope with affection and love. And oh, he is doomed. He’s in love with an emotional wrecking train, of course he will be this mess.

Anonymous asked:

What comics do you recommend for people new to doomstrange

i’d like to throw this question to @doctorofmagic

as much as i love doomstrange i feel like doctorofmagic would be able to put together a more comprehensive list.

Oh, I see, I’m becoming… infamous.

Haha puns aside, OMG, it’s such a great honor to receive this ask, words can’t describe how much I appreciate it, really, THANK YOU SO MUCH, you’re so kind, I can’t cope =‘)

Now, dear anon, regarding our simple guide for a complicated relationship through the years…

1) Doctor Strange & Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment (1989)

This is a personal favorite. And the best part is, it’s a timeless classic, which means you can read it without worrying about complicated storylines. It was also the story that made me fall in love with Victor. Here, you’ll learn more about the character and how Stephen changed his mind upon him.

2) Infinity Gauntlet #1-6 (1991)

This series features a mega event, which means many characters will appear. It was one of the infinity sagas that inspired Infinity War and Endgame, although it’s a little different from the MCU. Here, Stephen plays a fundamental role, serving as a tactical leader and uniting several teams - and a certain Doctor Doom - against Thanos. They don’t interact as much as I wish, yet they do share a few issues.

3) New Avengers v3 #1-33 + Annual (2013)

Now, this one may be a little difficult for those who are new to comics. The story is a bit complex because it’s the prequel for another mega event. But don’t worry, in case any doubts rise, you can always leave an ask. I’ll gladly try to help you. Victor and Stephen only meet in the last issues, but this is extremely important because they are the keys to what happens next in the Marvel Universe. Without alarming spoilers, all I can say is that moment becomes a turning point. And finally, it leads to the next event >

4) Secret Wars #0-6 (2015)

Following the events from New Avengers v3, here we have Victor and Stephen also playing an important role in this storyline. Sadly, their relationship didn’t end up well, but it’s also nice to see how they treat each other across the narrative.

5) Infamous Iron Man #1-12 (2016)

In short, the world came back to normal. Tony Stark is in coma after Civil War II and Victor had his face healed (you’ll understand when you read Secret Wars, don’t worry!). For this reason, Victor decides to take over Tony’s mantle and thus he becomes the Infamous Iron Man. The story is more focused on Tony and Victor, but Stephen has some significant appearances.

For now, those are the most significant stories when it comes to show their bond. Of course, they’ve met several times, however it feels more like the classic hero x villain kind of reunion, not quite character development. Yes, that’s all I’ve got. I’m craving more team-ups. It seems the next will happen in Savage Avengers #8, although I can’t say for certain that it will be important or if they will ever meet in the same panel. I’ll let you know, after all, I’m always checking Stephen’s appearances. Also, if I find a good team-up in old comics, I’ll certainly post it here!

Thank you!

Stargate is honestly the greatest Sci-fi series of all time and i will fight you on this

Samantha Carter and Janet Fraiser are two of the greatest female role models in scifi canon. Both are brilliant, super competent at their jobs, not sexualised but not desexualised, and they’re friends with and support each other.  Both are ranking members of the US airforce, and have a core belief of helping people and doing the right thing. But they’re both human. They get to be fallible, they get to be angry, and frustrated, and sad, and flustered, and it never invalidates their abilities or importance.

Daniel Jackson is the scifi hero we all deserve. He’s kind, gentle, and so damn excited about learning. Just learning more. His life has been so crap any other show would have turned him into a broody mess but no, not Daniel. Even at his lowest and sourest, he still desperatly wants to help others, to preserve other cultures, and save people. He literally dies for it. Multiple times. He’s a scifi explorer who honestly loves exploring. He truly loves it

And then Jack again could have been the most grizzled anti hero imaginable (hello movie!jack), but instead we have this kind, kooky, sarcastic space hero who just wants to be everyone’s dad and protect people from bad things. But at the same time he never folds on his principles, or who he is.

Teal’c could have been this hostile angry alien, or this overplayed goofball who doesn’t ‘get’ humanity. But instead they gave us someone serene and gentle, but proud and fierce. Someone who actually believed that they might loose their fight against his oppressors, but was willing to die trying, and willing to help others along the way.

And finally general Hammond. He could have been an obstructive burocrat, a pencil pusher with no respect for the other races they encounter, but instead he is the most sensible and level headed man in the series. and he cares  This is a man who has the president on speed dial 2, behind his granddaughters, but he will miss his granddaughters recital if one of his team is missing in the field. This is a man who loves his team so much that he all but admits he would rather have Teal’c die than hand him over to the tortures of the goverment when he goes evil, because he ‘won’t do that to him’. He never over plays it into incompitence though. He is always logical and practicle about his decisions. This is a man who continously strives to do the right thing not just for his people, but for his planet, and his galaxy.

I could write a billion love letters to this perfect series that is an example of how amazing Sci-Fi can be if you just have characters who care.
