The Announcement of Deadpool and Cable: Split Second -- A History

OKAY. SO. It’s, what, maybe a month until the street date for Split Second #1? Actually, I can’t find a date more specific than ‘October’ just yet, but suffice to say I intend to hype the shit out of this thing between now and whenever that may be. As one of those fans who’s basically been waiting for this since 2009, words can scarcely express how surreal it is for me that a Cable & Deadpool volume 2 is an actual thing that is actually happening here in the real world. Weirdly enough, that’s only more so because I actually some forewarning it was on the way. The occasion being what it is, I feel the need to document this part of the story for posterity.

Setting the clock back a few months, one of the news items I’ve been tossing up on whether to reblog since I took over cablexdeadpool back in April was this one post from over at Deadpool Bugle, which had screencapped a couple of tweets from Nicieza himself not-so-subtlely hinting that he might just be involved in a new Deadpool project.

(Seriously, this was only the beginning of the story, but I’ll stick the rest under a cut)

The way I see it, “Slave Leia” embodies the objectification, sexism, and fetishization of Princess Leia in that metal bikini in Return of the Jedi, while also highlighting that she was passive and helpless at the mercy of Jabba the Hutt.

“Leia the Huttslayer” is a badass who takes matters into her own hands and strangles the life out of that disgusting sexist slug that dared to control her with the very chain he tried to leash her with. (Also, it’s way more metal, and if a girl’s gotta wear a metal bikini she’s earned a metal epithet to go with it.)

Can I please just say that this blog actually means so so much to me. I’m 18 and looking to go into directing/producing at university. This blog is so positive and uplifting and oddly enough gives me much more confidence going into an industry where I know I can do my job and have people like you as a supporting tool to bring women into equal power. Huh, good question, especially since the TO is actually an alien lifeform. As seen in C&DB, a full-TO Cable isn't much of himself anymore but , so Ultron might consider it/him a living, but non-human being maybe?
