Surely this is the product of a twisted mind

Early 40s cis het? guy from Texas with a random number generator for a brain. What I post is what I like. Small proposals of conversation and fried egg offers welcome, though better hurry before someone shows up to claim me from the luggage rack.

Amazing support for Amber in Paris, France this week.  The two phrases in French read “Support for Amber Heard” and “Amber Heard, you are not alone”.

That post that's like "stop writing characters who talk like they're trying to get a good grade in therapy" really blew the door wide open for me about how common it's become for a character's emotional intelligence to not be taken into consideration when writing conflict. I remember the first time I went to therapy I had such a hard time even identifying what I was feeling, let alone had the language to explain it to someone else. Of course there are plenty of people who've never been to therapy a day in their life who are in tune to their emotions. But even they would have some trouble expressing themselves sometimes. You have to take into account there are plenty of people who are uncomfortable expressing themselves and people who think they're not allowed to feel certain ways. It also makes for more interesting conflict to have characters with different levels of understanding.

i think people have gotten out of the habit of writing characters being untruthful unless they're evil. sometimes people just lie, or they believe and repeat things that aren't true. people just do not and often Can not tell the absolute truth about themselves all the time even during heated and climactic moments. why are you writing everyone being absolutely honest about their feelings!!

(some of these overlap timeline-wise but i'm going by vibes. it's not science in the least)

(yes i lumped minitel in with BBSes but to be fair, minitel was incredibly regional and i don't expect this poll to travel far enough to actually run into anyone old enough to vote for it specifically)

(yes things like geocities/angelfire/tripod/spree etc were left out because i figure "platform" in this context means "interacting with one or more other people in a near-real-time or time-shifted way")

the world has been unkind to you so you continue the cycle of unkindness by passing on hatred and indifference to others? Wow. groundbreaking. you’re so cool and tormented

everything about this picture is goddamn intense as fuck

It's 2023 can we please figure out that asexuality isn't synonymous with sex repulsion already. Lack of attraction and lack of libido are not the same thing, aces can be "hell yes" about sex itself, and a lack of "hell yes" is not the same as active repulsion. I'm not a big movie watcher, but if someone I care about wants to share a movie with me I'll do it for them and very likely enjoy myself even if it doesn't turn me into someone who actively likes movies. It's not difficult.

Reminder that associating hair length with gender is not a culturally universal concept and that many indigenous folks in North America don’t cut their hair for cultural reasons that have nothing to do with gender.

Reminder that a native guy should be allowed to wear his hair in long braids without people calling it gender nonconformity or saying he’s breaking gender norms, because hair length has nothing to do with his gender norms.

Reminder that a queer native woman should be allowed to wear her hair long without being automatically read as femme presenting, that she can be butch with long hair, because long hair is not associated with femininity in her culture.

Reminder that many native folks cut their hair for solemn reasons, usually mourning, and remarking on it as a reflection of personal style or gender presentation can be deeply disrespectful. No, she didn’t just get a fierce butch haircut - she cut her hair because someone died. No, he didn’t cave to a gender conforming haircut - he cut his hair because someone died.

Reminder that this is not universally practiced by native folks and, like all cultural practices, some people are more strict in their adherence than others.

Imagine you're an actor on Gotham Knights and you're planning to come out for pride month 2k23 and you confide this in human low battery smoke alarm MISHA COLLINS and he proceeds, before you can come out, to vague tweet about how of someone comes out while he's on his "meditation retreat" he's very proud of them and the insane destiel cockles girlies assume this is about human manscaped ad Jensen Ackles and now you can't fucking come out because everyone is going to lose their fucking minds about whether you coming out means jackles is straight and you can't even bitch out Misha because he turned his phone off while he's getting his asshole bleached in Tahoe

every day the supernatural fandom sends emails.

which they do because Misha Collins is committing psychic warfare against them WHAT THE FUCK

this tweet is less than a day old and i can already hear in the hall of the mountain king.

Transphobia is so antithetical to genuine feminism it blows my mind there's such a wide overlap like you either believe in autonomy and self determination or you don't

This shouldn't be hidden in tags!

Image ID:

#you can't reconcile the feminist idea that men and women are equals with acting like they're different species

#the feminist idea that women are more than their reproductive systems with the one that womanhood is defined by a reproductive system

#the feminist idea that women don't need to adhere to arbitrary standards of femininity with the one that they do or they aren't women

#the feminist idea that women are allowed to have body hair and be tall or muscular with the one that they're to be scrutinized if they are

#the feminist idea that women as equals to men should be allowed to compete with them with the one that both must always be separated

#i can not consider terfism to be feminism in any fucking way

#and don't say 'no true scotsman' that's not it

#i don't consider feminists for the same reason i don't consider the democratic people's republic of korea a democracy #or nazism socialism. having feminist in their name does not mean their ideas are automatically feminist

#i've yet to meet a terf that actually cares about women more than about hating on trans folk

#there is no feminist belief that can come from someone who views women as vaginas with legs that are too frail to do anything men do

You want to know a LGBTQ+ historical fact that is not centered in the US?

LGBTQ+ movement started developing in Brazil during the 70s, while there was a right-wing dictatorship here (it must be a surprise to some of you that right-wing dictatorships existed).

There was a newspaper called “ChanacomChana” (translated it would be something like PussyWithPussy) made by lesbians and they used to sell this newspaper on a bar that later kicked out the lesbians from there and prohibited that newspaper to be sold there.

On August 19th lesbians, feminists and other LGBTQ+ activists went to that bar to protest which led to the end of the prohibition of the sale of the newspaper.

This is why here in Brazil on August 19th we celebrate the “Dia do Orgulho Lésbico” (Lesbian Pride Day).
