★ ARC Team review ★ The Dare was hands down my favorite stand-alone novella so when I found out that there would be a full length novel coming out featuring the same characters, it instantly became my most anticipated read of 2022. I know Harley was really nervous about this book and the reader response but she exceeded expectations BY A LOT!! I know that Harley can write spice and she can write my kinks in a realistic way. But in this book, she not only wrote about kink in an extremely responsible way but also aspects of it that you almost never see in books. This is only the 2nd book I've ever read that the author wrote about dom drop or setting limits. Harley recognized the responsibility that writing a book like this carries and the way that she handled it was so impressive. I have so much respect for her and the way she writes. Aside from that, this book was hot hot hot! I love reading the different POVs but I'm still loving Jess's journey through all of this and being in her brain makes me feel so seen. Worrying about reputation and what other people think but also figuring out what you like and letting go of that feeling of judgement. I was absolutely obsessed with Manson in The Dare but I loved becoming obsessed with the other boys as well in this book. I'm so excited for Part 2 and I can't wait to see how this all wraps up.
A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows by Holly Renee . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 . ✨"It doesn't matter that you are destined to be his. Every part of you is begging to be mine."✨ . I received an ARC from The Smuthood for an honest (and spoiler free) review. . This has been my favorite book I've read this year. The whole concept of the Starblessed, the magic system, the kingdoms at war - it was all so interesting and I want to know more. But the romance? THE ROMANCE?! So good, so steamy, and so much dirty talk. I was captivated by the story right away but the romance is what made this feel truly magical. That cliffhanger though? I need more, I can't wait to read book 2.
The High Priestess (The Tarot Club #3) by Erin Mc Luckie Moya . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5 . I received this as an ARC for an honest review and this was so good! . I loved that it had a similar feel to The Empress and The Emperor in that there is a hallow melancholy that Marie carried similar to Corrine but it was still a completely different vibe. This book had less magick than books 1 and 2 in the series but the community and clan that Marie was raised in was really interesting. I loved getting her backstory and learning about her upbringing and I liked that we got to see a small peak at what Corrine and Dimitri are up to. . I loved Cort and I cannot wait to read more about him in the next book. I definitely want to know more about the demons and his history. . This author has a special balance of leaving a lot of questions unanswered while answering some questions. It's done in a way that I, as the reader, am not getting annoyed by my lack of information but I'm super curious about what is going to happen next. . I'm really excited to see what comes next for this series, for Marie and Cortland, and for the other members of the Tarot Club.
I’ve never been overly patriotic but I definitely don’t feel an ounce of patriotism this year. When people have lost their freedom to choose and police are killing black men in the streets, it’s hard to feel pride for a country that proves repeatedly that it doesn’t care about its people.
So instead of a red, white, and blue book stack, I’ll share this black one instead.

What was the inspiration for his character?
This is such a great question but also kinda awkward because - if I really elaborate, which I won’t - it explains WHY I’ve felt detached from the character this past year, but I’m trying to love the character for what he turned out to be, not who he was initially based off of, if you catch my drift.
He also transformed into a self insert of sorts after I came out as trans-masc nonbinary, so he’s so many things. I CAN TELL YOU he was definitely an unintentional ripoff of my love for Hellboy and Nightcrawler, and a lot of his character concept is based off of werewolves (spoilers? Not really) but, as with all characters I invest in too much as self indulgence, the fandom fell for him WAY HARDER than I could’ve ever expected. I wanted people to like him, yes, but OH MAN, was I surprised when he turned out to be a favorite of so many. Which is fun when you consider how many awful things he’s done that he’s gonna have to reconcile with next season lmaoo
What is a book or series that you’ve owned for a while but haven’t read yet?
Everyone keeps telling me to read the Blood and Ash series and I honestly don’t know why I haven’t read it yet. But it’s pretty!
A little queer romance for pride
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I loved Red, White, and Royal Blue but I haven’t had a chance to read One Last Stop yet. It’s on my TBR for the month.
