hey man youve been taking a while putting your change back in your wallet and i just wanted to let you know we are kicking you out of the grocwery sytore forever. goodbye

hello! i feel like i've seen you post about how more women should be into investing, and i was wondering if you had any recommendations for where to start learning about it (obviously not looking for actual financial advice lol, just how to get started)

i am kind of a lousy person to ask because i learned how to invest from my dad… for fun and digestible financial ed stuff (moreso for getting a lay of the land, not specific stock tips) i like listening to trillionaire mindset and reading kyla scanlons substack. for financial literacy on specific topics like, “what is an ETF,” investopedia is really helpful. you can get tips on individual stocks from marketwatch or CNBC but i feel like a lot of the way they track stock movement is like, “Wow suddenly this one stock is outperforming expectations” which is very like, barn door after the horse bc you want to invest before it outperforms. sites like wallstreetzen show you analyst ratings but to continue the horse theme, analysts are like spooky horses, they react to everything and you can also find 5 analysts to give you 5 different opinions on one stock

my tips, such that they are i am not qualified to provide real financial advice, are:

1) buy low sell high (lol) when a stock is a given. like when apple does a stock split, which is where they basically split their shares like a worm so shareholders with 1 share worth 800 now have 2 shares worth 400, buy a share. the price will slowly come back up, because it’s apple, and you got it for cheaper than it should be. Or buy low in times of crisis, like covid. i bought boeing when it was through the floor in 2020 because no one was flying and the 737 max kept exploding, but boeing is basically too big to fail bc of all their govt contracts. Now it’s like 3x what i paid for it

2) diversify - multiple stocks, multiple 401ks with a variety of investment strategies, multiple mutual funds, CDs are finally sort of worth it again because interest rates are up, bonds, whatever works for you

3) use your own knowledge of whatever field you work in or have regular exposure to or good understanding of, and make investment choices based on that. if you understand the business side of your job or your hobbies and interests, that’s basically market research. i’ve outsmarted the analysts on several stocks thanks to this

4) only invest money you can reasonably afford to lose and mentally say goodbye to it as soon as it’s invested, like lending money to a friend. also keep an eye on your shit!!! check on it every day like you’re incubating chicken babies… learn about stop-loss orders and implement them. if something goes terribly wrong you will lose money but there are ways to tourniquet the wound

for women, strength is how much pain you can endure

for men, strength is how much pain you can inflict

Stop speaking for men, especially if you are not and have never been a man.

Men throughout history have worked exhausting hours and worked horribly dangerous jobs to provide for their families.

Men work so hard in pursuit to help their families that they often lose the chance to actually be there to watch their kids grow up and bond with their loved ones. So often that it has become a trope.

Men are the overwhelming majority of combat injury and death throughout history, protecting their land and loved ones from invaders.

Men are the overwhelming majority of first responders and law enforcement who put their lives on the line to protect people like you.

And enduring all of this for the sake of others is fully recognized as strength to all accept sexist radfems who want any excuse to spread hatred and generalizations about men. From sexist radfems who will do anything to make women as a group appear to be superior by default instead of equal, like they claim.

Claim #1: men work harder than women.

Status: FALSE

Men have worked, historically, a fraction of the time women work, with more recognition and more reward than women.

“Throughout the Industrial Revolution, gender was a major influence on worker salary.  Women tended to receive between one third to on half of a man’s average salary.  As the manufacturing industries began to grow, they would take advantage of these low average salaries amongst women and children.  The ability to employ these women and children for little pay proved to be very beneficiary to these companies.  Many industries exploited these people’s need for money, as they would turn a major profit in exchange for very cheap labor.  Tasks such as printing, spinning, and other duties commonly learned at home were easy jobs to learn and were some of the most profitable. (2)“

To be fair the above study has been conducted in everything from teaching to business. Male names get better offers and more interviews. Female names and obviously nonwhite names get poorer offers and fewer interviews.

Claim #2: men don’t get to spend as much time on childcare because they work too hard

Status: FALSE

Claims #3 and #4: men are overwhelmingly injured and killed throughout history and this is women’s fault

Status: FALSE

Much of these stats were taken from my other post, which, curiously has not been rebutted in any meaningful way. If you’ve read that before feel free to skip this.

Men are overwhelmingly first responders because historically men have barred women from being considered for fields like active combat (below), firefighting (8), and the police force (9)

Secondly, war affects the lifespan of women more than men. Even putting aside that most people killed from wars were not considered active combat:

Women still make up the vast majority of trafficking victims (11), sweatshop workers (12) , and prostitutes (13) in the world. Are you now going to claim that a US soldier, whose risk of dying was approximately 0.33% in Afghanistan alone over the past 15 years, has an equal risk of death as any or all of these professions? Because you’d be wrong.

Table 1: tally of US troops deployed to Afghanistan (13) and total US casualties (14) expressed as a percentage using the following formula: # deaths * 100 / Total # of troops deployed. Max is the maximum percentage of troop death to deployed, min is the minimum percentage, and ave is the average percentage. Please note that even the maximum percentage is half a percentage point.

The maximum percentage of troops who die is 0.496% or 310 deaths out of 67,000. Prostitutes, particularly trafficked women and children, on the other hand, have nearly an 8% chance of being murdered while actively in prostitution (15). Please note that the overall statistics given in the abstract look at the women over 32 years, and that many of those women were not actively prostitutes for that long, in part because of the declining income earnings for older prostitutes (16)

Claim #5 “And enduring all of this for the sake of others is fully recognized as strength to all accept[sic] sexist radfems who want any excuse to spread hatred and generalizations about men. From sexist radfems who will do anything to make women as a group appear to be superior by default instead of equal, like they claim.”

Status: FALSE

Putting aside that this person misspelled “except,” claimed that male supremacy is “Fully recognized as strength to all,” and that they called “radfems” sexist and hateful approximately four times in only 56 words, where is the evidence of “sexist radfem hatred”? Where are the radical feminists killing male infants because they were born male? I have statistics of men killing female infants shortly after their birth (17)

Where are the radical feminists raping and murdering men, insisting that men change their names after marriage, insisting that male bodies be legally regulated?

The claims above can only be accepted as logical with the following unsaid assumptions: (1) women owe men gratitude for our existence (2) by living independently, women are stealing something from men that is owed to them and (3) the only true “equality” between the sexes involves a recognition that men are superior. Those assumptions are all FALSE.

The underlying claims are also false.

Currently around the world women perform 90% of all labor

I think it’s interesting that the people getting mad at the original post assume that it inherently paints men as villains. When I read that statement I think of how those same standards hurt people who deviate from gender roles. Aren’t y'all the ones always talking about how “patriarchy hurts men too?” How they’re not supposed to be gentle or emotional? They also seem to make the assumption that OP agrees that enduring pain is noble and wants women to suffer, which I can’t imagine is true.

like imagine a hobby that is less of a hobby than funko pop collections. you can't. if you told me your hobby was literally watching paint dry and grass grow I would fuck you on the spot because that's so sick and five hundred millions times cooler than funko and also because I am driven into insatiable lust by cartoonishly boring people. I didn't say that.

it's not even that ppl slightly misunderstand radical feminism. they FULLY don't even know the core tenets and then end up saying stupid shit like "radical feminism thinks if you have short hair, you should be shot on sight because you have betrayed the barbie code" and will get 40k positive notes lmaoo

I think ive said it before but you really gotta feel bad for oedipus that wanting to fuck your mother got named after him. He really did not want to do that . It is central to oedipus rex how badly he didnt want to do that. Dick move by freud

i hate the phrase "the personal is political." no it isn't. the personal is MORAL. MORALITY is what's always in play, not decisions of governance. what disturbs me most abt the common usage of this phrase is that is seems to imply that for many ppl, the concept of POLITICS has replaced the concept of MORAL RIGHT FROM WRONG. and you are rlly sick for that

Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime, that's why I read yaoi on company time

// An AI company wants to pay you cryptocurrency to absorb your biometric data through their steel orbs. What problems could possibly come from that???

Item: Orb of Eyeball Scanning. Don’t worry, when it absorbs your identity into the company’s pool, it will pay you in magic money, so that’s fine.

tape casette recorders are compatible with literally every. single. thing. im out here living in 2095.

things you can record (audio only), simply by lying to your computer, telling it that the tape recorder is actually a set of headphones:

  • discord call
  • podcast
  • documentary
  • radio and internet radio
  • music, from any source. without having to download it at all.
  • music you make on virtual pianos/etc
  • noteworthy news items (fireside esque, interviews, huge events)
  • stand-up comedy
  • rented or borrowed media
  • any other sound your pc can produce

and with a VCR you could do all of this AND have the visuals as well… but an audio cassette recorder is a good place to start, since they’re small and simple. I would not recommend a boombox, because those are large and nowadays all very, very bad quality.

Now you may be saying “how is any of this helpful, I want a digital file…” here’s the fucking magic. You go into Audacity (free program), and lie to it that the tape recorder is really a microphone. Then you hit record on Audacity, and hit play on the tape, and let it play at regular speed. Trim and export the digital file, and you’re doing gangbusters. You’re cooking with gas. You’re thinking with portals. You’ve won the internet.

Congratulations, you can “pirate”* anything you want, and literally no one can catch you, because you’re not downloading in the traditional sense. You’re streaming to an external device, and that device is recording what it receives. It’s exactly like taping a live tv show to a VHS. This is a very low-key and non-strenuous task for the computer, since your tape recorder does all the work.

*Is this piracy? No. Well- it’s time shifting. Sort of. Tell it to my Steely Dan albums. Tell it to my The Sims: Hot Date VG Soundtrack album.
