honestly the christian guilt dynamics of the new wave of sympathetic hero vampires kind of fascinating like if older vampires were some kind of weird foreign other often some type of antisemitic undertones the shift to like very overtly western european or american often from the antebellum south type vampires as they shifted to be seen as "sympathetic" they also then to prove their morality by like denying themselves pleasure extremely christian of them honestly its kind of funny in some ways the shifts been so extreme that like the evil shadowy vampire ruling councils with their hands in every part of the world again could easily be weird and antisemitic its like the shift to such overtly white christian vampires its like oh the evil 6 foot tall blonde vampires fucking with the world or like the fucking vampire vatican in twilight tho tbh thats probably just cuz catholics live rent free in the mormon mind

ok thoughts ive had thinking about buffy and true blood etc and at least a little bit of the conversation around first kill lol been reading vampire academia you know whatever which is that like obviously vampire media has been very gay tho has also of course had the long running thread of like vampire man shows up in a human womans life and upends things on the spectrum of like pure monster in dracula to like male lead in a bodice ripper and whatever in between tho running parallel has also been the long tradition of lesbian vampire media starting of course with carmilla that also always plays with the human protagonist various levels of menacing vampire lover/antagonist and that tho i guess romance/seduction in most vampire media is doomed to end in destruction there is usually more finality in the lesbian vampire media with early depictions leaving the vampire dead and the innocent human woman saved but changed and later depictions do sometimes leave the human victim a vampire herself even if the original remains dead perhaps leaving it like the gay vampirism will live on despite it all which is definitely more interesting than status quo restored but still very much an end and well how these tropes have been reinvented as the years have gone on whatever mental digression about vampire and human being like vampire media gender roles and how that intertwines with painfully heterosexual m/f vampire romance the predatory lesbian vampires and then the like long shadow of the vampire chronicles on m/m vampire relationships and that it obviously reframes and yaoifies the entire vampire romance concept centering a vampire/vampire couple etc but anyways back to buffy and true blood or whatever i find myself kind of tired of these fairly generic human/vampire straight romances especially interesting in true blood where they keep also like making jokes about vampire blood making you gay etc and the heavy handed vampire homophobia and vampire racism plots language and world building etc its like often both a way of defining normalcy so many of these romantic lead vampires are extremely straight often also stuck in the bizarre like christian guilt purity cycle of also like resisting their vampirism and being "vegetarians" etc but it all feels extremely stale and old hate and like attached to a level of normalcy when its the same circle around and around sad vampire man generic human girl which like this kind of central romance plot is like where i do sort of get why people maybe assumed something like first kill was perhaps unique in an extremely gay genre and like of course tale as old as time people have used vampires as like this fantasy for womens repressed sexuality and all that but its like idk i do think u could in some ways bring a certain amount of life back to the stale tropes of these weird romances if u did make them gay adding perhaps more depth and weight to the awakening and repression often explored in this and to mess with the very lame gender dynamics in these kinds of relationships and have a different idea of the normalcy vs weird vampirism or boring life vs cool vampire life dyanmics that are often explored idk this makes no sense ok thank u for going on this journey with me

its actually so sick and twisted that some people made a but im a cheerleader musical and it isnt even good like literally if broadways gonna keep trying to make it happen with the movie adaptations and keeps chasing the teen musical but im a cheerleader deserves to be there and it should be fantastic.... it would literally make such a good musical if you had the right vision and mind

a simple favor is a fun movie definitely in the realm of absolutely batshit insane twisting plots that i always enjoy i held off on watching it for so long cuz i was like anna kendrick cant play gay to save her life this will diminish the quality of the weird gay subtext incomprehensible plot movie and yeah she really did not rise to the challenge really should have been gayer would have been a perfect movie if it had like half the budget and an insane gay person helming it which like i guess thats just breaking the girls but id like more movies like breaking the girls it would also need actors who can more convincingly play gay but i was not gonna say breaking the girls was really doing great in that department they werent not gay or anything but like very 2010s gay side character in a network tv show kinda energy anyways the end was disappointing because after the conversation at the cemetery i was like wow are they gonna work together and frame the husband and it was playing the music from the opening of but im a cheerleader and i was like wow is this an intentional reference to the fact the movie is now getting gayer but thats actually the has watched way too many random gay movies part of my brain talking assuming this is like well known common knowledge etc so the ending a bit of a letdown but you know an enjoyable 2 hours nonetheless i think we really do need to keep throwing more weird gay les diaboliques references at the wall until eventually someone makes the perfect movie.. we are still waiting

why is shading fabric akin to torture literally the hardest art thing to me i feel so confident painting skin but its like any other surface im like how does the light reflect this is a nightmare ai yai yai and fabric doesnt have the dignity to remain like comfortably in warm tone ranges literally skin is the perfect amount of shiny and is all warm toned so u can enhance the shadows with cool tones if you need so normal i think i might actually go insane trying to shade this white fabric

really might need to blacklist barbie i think ive had it with these goddamn posts... lets succession out of tumblr jail because everyone figured themselves otu and stopped posting after it ended but idk when the barbie posts will end

my drawing process is so dumb ill like sketch something in a vague manner and then feel like hmm this looks shitty i shall now paint one part of it for fun thus locking in that part of the drawing and then half of the sketch isnt even very clear and then i muddle around and add more bits and pieces and im like waah whys this such a disjointed mess

goodreads star ratings are actually so funny because its like almost every book in the world has a solid 4 star rating on there and if its dipping too far into the 3 star category which should in fact mean like average to mediocre it probably means its like one of the worst books ever written cuz u have to be really bad to dip below 4 stars and if its getting close to actually 5 stars it means it has been read by exactly 8 people on earth who all adore it or its riding some kind of bizarre hype train and actually is also kind of a red flag for quality

its really funny the like goodreads suggested on a book like if its a well known classic or something its gonna be like have you heard of frankenstein? or perhaps shakespeare? oh you are reading horror have you ever heard of an obscure little author known as stephen king? and if its a book that came out in the last 5 years its like have you heard of this trendy ya novel that is barely anything like it or its like a book that is in fact superficially similar in almost every way to the book you just read but its like if you actually read the book its like the evil mirror image and you would hate it

i hate how sites like letterboxd and goodreads seem to use lists as like long showy fully collections of things or curated ways to show ur taste and its so rare to find the right list that simply groups together a lot of really bizarre shit with some kind of overarching vibe or theme or extremely niche thing tying them together or people being brave and honest because like if i am looking deep in the lists of lists containing a trashy gay movie i just watched i really am simply panning for gold desperately hoping to find someone else as passionate about weird and kind of terrible movies like that and let them deliver me others like it but its so rare :(
