*through gritted teeth* every day i choose to be kind *barely restraining myself from violence* i choose to have compassion *tamping down the vicious bloodlust inside me* i choose to care and to be kind and to love
the r/curatedtumblr -> tumblr migration is so funny to me. it's like going to the zoo and enjoying it so much you climb into the enclosure to live with the monkeys
I know it feels like an understatement but you sometimes make more progress by pointing out that conservatives are fucking rude. going out of your way to call someone the wrong name because you don't like them? rude. childish. this isn't fucking kindergarten, Carl. she said her name is Jennifer. Everybody knows her as Jennifer. You are the one making things confusing. Grow up.
"misgendering is violence": invites discourse over the TraNs DeBatE, puts people on the defensive, opens you up to accusations of liberal snowflakery, comes off as a hypothetical thought exercise
"Who the fuck is Jason? I don't know a Jason. Oh her? You mean Jen? You mean fucking Jen? That's Jen, dipshit." : crystal clear. you're making shit more difficult for everyone because you're a rude manchild.
HONESTLY also like. part of combatting misinformation is just accepting that you'll fall victim to it sometimes. no-one can be an expert on every imaginable subject and most people don't have the time to factcheck every single piece of information that comes their way. the key thing IMO is responding appropriately when someone points misinfo ie not doubling down and being like 'no there's no way I could be wrong about this'.

having to clean the shower is such a joke. “ooh, look at me, I’m a tiled oblong daily flooded with soap and hot water - you know, the two things you use for cleaning? better scrub me down with DIFFERENT soap or I’ll develop weird orange fungus!” absolute clown shit. unacceptable.
It is actually way better for 100 addicts to get their fix on pain pills than a single person in pain go without. I call this the "Torture is bad" principle. You should be able to get the good stuff forever after a single doctor's visit. If you're worried about addicts fund rehab centers and needle exchanges instead of torturing people.
cool post bro
(don't dunk on them this is a twitter screenshot they might not actually know we're here too. just found it funny - paper)
wildest thing about threshold is that sandwiched between some of the most random corniest dialogue you will ever hear in an hour of television is just this gut-punch of a character moment
eminem the building is crumbling i dont think we'll make it out
gay eminem on 9/11: that plane just flew into a lower floor/id like to suck a man just once more
you have managed to condense three new post ideas into just one post
Sometimes I think about the sheer contrast of Anakin’s early childhood compared to the jedi crechelings. They both experienced love, but Anakin was the single child of a single mother who adored and protected him in a world that was otherwise extremely hostile to him. That you have your family and you hold onto them and society will horrifically exploit you and hurt you and not care. Those are not the values Shmi wanted to pass on, and not what she taught him, but that was the environment he lived in.
Jedi younglings are… sheltered (but not isolated). They experience the love of a community that is genuinely committed to their welfare- to chose the life in the order is to make a commitment to it’s children. Their world is, generally, kind, their authority figures are generally kind, their society is kind. And they all have a lot of siblings- their primary experience with navigating conflict is with each other, not adults who mean them harm. They are taught about the wider world, and they will go out into it and see the full breadth of greed and violence for themselves when they are older- but the first world they know is a soft one. A safe one.
Children are already very sensitive to the world around them, but force sensitivity comes with an extra dose of empathy- they can feel it, they can feel it in the people around them, they can feel it in the walls. Anakin grew up in the slave quarters surrounded by misery and indifference, with only a few shining lights of comfort. It’s so different to the atmosphere in the temple. Where the love is… everywhere.
I refuse to believe that no one saw the bad vibes on that man.
Listen her, will ya?
a thing i love about the eleventh hour red robe/magnus interaction is imagine if your mysterious seemingly-evil haunting ghost went "if you look at this information, I'll be less able to protect you" and then the information, while incomprehensible, is basically that you're in cahoots with that guy. hi, I know you care about everyone, but you're gonna make it harder for yourself if you try to remember caring about me, i love you.
Image description: tumblr tags from @juha-art reading "that's what makes barry and lucretia so similar and so sad. i love you. protecting you will be harder if you remember me. i love you." End description.
sometimes I randomly think about the time a girl posted in this girls only Facebook group I’m in telling everyone how she broke up with her boyfriend and he lied saying that he lost the spare key she gave him, only to then break into her apartment when she wasn’t home and steal the cat they’d adopted while they were together, but then he denied having done this and she didn’t really have proof that he took the cat since he wouldn’t let her come into his place and look for it. And then another girl saw this post and knew her ex-boyfriend, and she was like “girl. I used to hook up with your mans back in xxxx and I still have his number. If you want, I’ll hit him up and get him to invite me back to his place and see if your cat’s there.” And the OP was like “bet.”
So this woman hit up homie dog, asked him out for drinks, went home with him, slept with him, and then woke up in the middle of the night and TOOK THE CAT. Like she had only said that she would confirm if the cat was there but then she took it upon herself to steal this woman’s cat back. Like she full on Trojan horsed this man and then hit up homegirl like “I got the goods. Where you wanna meet.” And then the two of them posted a photo of them together with the cat to the group.
And I just think women supporting women is so beautiful.
AU where Lucretia doesn't go through with her voidfish plan, so Lup is eventually found and Faerûn is left to their Relic War, leading to eventual shenanigans such as:
- Faerunians figuring out the Grand Relics have a power source, and trying to extract fragments of the Light of Creation for other uses
- Faerunian movement to fuse the Grand Relics (opposed because people are like "that's gonna be a superweapon idiot") (the Starblaster crew secretly contributes to this opposition without mentioning what else combining the relics would lead to)
- Faerunians trace the Relics back to the Starblaster crew, creating drama
- Angus McDonald traces the Relics back to the Starblaster Crew, creating some kind of problem
- Faerunians trace the Relics back to Miller Labs via some comedy of evidence errors due to them working together, the Starblaster crew has to step up
- The characters who use the relics in canon still do that, but they're working with more knowledge of the item + everybody else also can recognize it, which changes how the arcs work, if they happen at all
- Faerunians figure out certain properties of the Relics, like the fact that you can only semi-safely use them if love motivates you, and managing to contain them / create strict usage regulations (or like, they try - the Relics make it very hard for this to work)
- Faerun discovers Bonds and the crew has to watch a vaguely terrifying parallel to their own world unfold - Miller Labs has the crew's data on planar systems, they've figured out Bonds, and Oh Shit, You Could Make a Spaceship Out Of This
- [two people staring at each other out the windows of their cars meme but it's the Starblaster and Faerun's First Spaceship]
Kind of a fun irony to the idea that the Light of Creation, even broken into pieces and not acting in its normal capacity, still causing a huge revolution of societal/governmental organizing, people collaborating, etc. because they need to stop it.
And maybe that's part of the power of it - that it works towards its purpose even when it's against you
@barry-j-blupjeans: god this FUCKS #i would read so much of this#i gotta know how magnulia breaks down #i gotta !!! #tell me the exact details of how and why magnus and julia meet in this au i beg of u
Oh great question. Hmm. There's a lot of fun ways that could go, I'm sure, but one that comes immediately to mind is like:
- The Starblaster Crew starts losing their minds holed up in the ship and has to start touching grass. So they integrate into society but they have to pretend to be natives of Faerun.
- Magnus is bad at this.
- Magnus goes to Raven's Roost and keeps coming around / starts staying there because he wants to further hone his woodworking among these other experts.
- Obviously all of the crew is still in contact with one another, it's sort of been the routine for the last century that they can split off to pursue different things like this, so he's just like. This guy with an extremely weird family who visit occasionally
- Julia is suspicious from the beginning. I mean take THB's incongruent extraplanar references and crank them up to 11 because he actually remembers what he's talking about, and also keeps obviously stopping himself halfway through sentences
- Julia stays nearby to figure out his deal but then she starts to actually like him (oops!) and fall for him (oops!!!!!!!!!)
- Actually not totally sure how Kalen would go here, kind of depends what works. Like it could still be that he strikes when nobody's there to defend Raven's Roost. But it could also be, like, some other people from the crew do actually show up to stop it and have to display some kind of weird magic that doesn't exist on Faerun and it's the breaking point on those suspicions
- Barring that, kind of imagining a Julia & Angus team up???
- Julia like "I'm not suspicious of him about anything romance-related, he's a sweetheart, but what the fuck is going on with him" meanwhile Angus is busy linking this guy to the Relics conundrum
- Some kind of potential drama when they figure out that Magnus is related to & partially the cause of, you know, the past few years of Faerun's greatest tragedies
- But then she confronts him and learns the actual story behind it all, and, well.
- Guys.
- There's gotta be a better solution than that, right.
