Imagine spending all your time going up and down your best python friend.

This is being sent around with a lot of nastiness in the notes, so I’ll clarify what I know of this situation.

These photos were taken at a community gathering by a photographer named Fahmi Bhs, who reported that the animals chose to interact in this manner rather than being posed (X). The snake, a green tree python, has been raised in cohabitation with the frog (a White’s tree frog) in a private collection (not a zoo), and does not consume frogs as part of its diet (and has shown no interest in doing so). However, it is not uncommon for these two species to cohabitate at zoos, as these frogs are not typically seen as prey items for this python species. Here is a photo from the Cairns Tropical Zoo, who houses multiple frogs with their pythons.

While reptiles and amphibians don’t have the capacity to form friendships and feel affection the way humans and other socially-adapted animals do, they can get used to various inhabitants or interactions (for example, being handled by humans is another interaction many snakes grow accustomed to). It is likely that being raised and handled together has simply accustomed these two to one another’s presence such that peaceful interactions like the above can occur. 

TL:DR; These particular animals were under no duress and came to no harm and from what I can tell, they weren’t in danger of coming to harm, either.

This hit me where I live. It razed my crops, clogged my pores, killed my heroes, and empowered my enemies
