This is indeed an intentional homage. This conversation doesn’t *only* happen in Twilight. (It’s a very tropey conversation, in general. And can be found in lots of stories with secret monsters and immortals.)

But I absolutely *adore* this moment in Twilight.

When you’re writing a book that’s overtly about tropes and archetypes, you find yourself really thinking about how to include these moments and themes, while still making them feel specific to your own characters and story.
