Commission Info!

Since a couple of you have asked, here is my big official commission info page. For those new here: I do writing and editing services! There are a few examples of my writing on patreon as well as some of my fic on ao3.

Wanna flesh out a DnD character's backstory? Ever have an idea you wish would just write itself? Are you looking for a fresh pair of eyeballs to catch all of your typos and stuff? I can absolutely help with that. :D

I typically charge five cents per word and $25 per every 1,000 words I edit--this includes line editing and content editing. Feel free to contact me at rainbowbarnacle@gmail.com to discuss details. (word length, subject matter, all that fun stuff!)

Also, if you'd like to throw some money toward Beatrix's vet bills or just grab me a coffee, I have a kofi too!

Thank you tons. <3

i don’t know where the notion that if you don’t give big bucks to an artist then you’re not really supporting them came from, but when people say even a tiny bit of monetary support saves an artist, it’s not for the aesthetic or the gesture of it all. i’ve been able to have actual drinking water on days i’ve been incredibly broke simply because someone bought a brush pack for 2 euros. in the most actual, literal way i could possibly convey this: the SMALLEST amount counts. in practice counts. people-get-to-eat-today counts. especially in this age of everyone and their mother being out to deplatform artists. there’s value in the tiniest of ways

i needed like... an iroh chilling in a pond... you know to lift my spirits? oh well.... a freind @wildkitte said: Mmmm iroh flavoured tea [sips] and i love her so much for that! don't drink the tea!

For all my people with ME/CFS:

After infection with COVID, this study shows reactivation of dormant viruses and immune exhaustion. This fits with reports coming from physicians and patients of ME/CFS getting exacerbated or returning after COVID infection. I can't emphasize enough how important it is for us to not be infected or reinfected with COVID.

Small reminder for my Texas/southwest peope. Going to be expecially nasty next week. Stay hydrated, stay cool, keep an eye on your neighbors.

Popping this back up, since it’s getting hot here, and won’t get any cooler ‘til October.  Stay hydrated, friends!

Anyway, in light of all the people discussing the Titanic today, I really recommend Tasting History's videos on the history of the ship through the lens of food and the meals people would have eaten. I find them to be a more meaningful examination of the disaster and its human cost than any fixation on seeing the wreck in person.

I saw this at QuiltCon 2023 in Atlanta today and wanted to share. I have so many more pictures and can’t share them all right now, but this peaceful scene felt like a good one to leave you with for now

Here’s another one of the quilts from QuiltCon that will really stay with me. I have never in my life made anything like this, the technical skills are truly incredible. The award was well-deserved.

The Fool symbolises the beginning of a long and fruitful journey. This card embodies innocence and naivete. The Fool usually indicates stepping into a world in which you are lacking experience but ready to spring forward anyway. It presents a choice to indulge your desires and embark on your wildest dreams without hesitation. Your optimism will protect you in these untested waters and will block out all the fear and doubts that usually come with beginning something new and hard.

I miss the gay balls… I walked under them to get my groceries for two years. I confessed to my first girlfriend while walking under them. They made me feel at home in the Village and proud to be queer.

This whole thing was installed in summer 2011. The first few years, they were all pink, but in 2017 they got updated to the rainbow version from the picture. The installation was supposed to be temporary, but everyone loved it so much that they kept putting it back every summer for nine years . In the end, Claude Cormier (the artist) asked to have it taken down so other artists could use the space.

They sold the rows of balls to the public in 2019, and my mom actually got me one! It’s one of my favorite things I own.
