the truth about the void state
I'm reading "At You Command" by Neville at the moment and I suppose this is the book where you get the actual Neville-based source for the void (though I'd argue he mentions this state of I-AM-ness in every book). I think it was divineangelbee who introduced this state to Tumblr and she stated it to be as a technique Neville used to manifest if I remember correct. Truth be told, when you actually read "At Your Command", or any other NG book, you can see that what Neville is trying to tell you is sooo much simpler than actually entering some mystical state where it seems like you've *physically* entered a state of nothingness. It's so so overcomplicated on Tumblr. It makes my head ache, to be honest.
Again, Moses stated, “I AM that I AM.” Now here is something to always bear in mind. You cannot put new wine in old bottles or new patches upon old garments. That is, you cannot take with you into the new consciousness any part of the old man. All of your present beliefs, fears, and limitations are weights that bind you to your present level of consciousness. If you would transcend this level you must leave behind all that is now your present self, or conception of yourself. To do this you take your attention away from all that is now your problem or limitation and dwell upon just being. That is, you say silently but feeling to yourself, “I AM.” Do not condition this ‘awareness’ as yet. Just declare yourself to be, and continue to do so until you are lost in the feeling of just being – faceless and formless. When this expansion of consciousness is attained, then within this formless deep of yourself, give form to the new conception by FEELING yourself to be THAT which you desire to be. You will find within this deep of yourself all things to be divinely possible. Everything in the world which you can conceive of being is to you —within this present formless awareness — a most natural attainment. - NG (At Your Command)
What is this "I AM" state? It's SIMPLY BEING AWARE OF BEING. And you are always aware of being. Neville tells you to just focus on this awareness. You do not have to tingle and open your eyes in pitch black nothingness lol. Neville tells you to enter this "I AM" state every time you pray (feel wish-fulfilled), just for you to release the old man. This means achieving a passive state beforehand where you're just focused on being, not focused I, John Smith, Am, but just focused on the I AM - the awareness of mere existence. This is achieved with a simple meditative state. It really isn't all that complicated. When you're focused on the mere existence of you just being, then you can feel without any limitations coming in your way, you're not limited by your conception of yourself.
Your desires only realise once you have the awareness of having said desires already. The void isn't some magical place where you can just state your wishes and hope for them to realise. In every technique you have to actually identify with your desires. That's when God (your subconscious) finds a way to make them appear in the physical for to him that hath shall be given. Every feeling is impressed into the subconscious and eventually realised, unless overpowered by a stronger feeling of the opposite nature. That's all you need to know: feeling -> reality; void≠magic to getting all your desires.

How to create a reputation for yourself
In a very competitive world where resources are scarce and opportunities are too little, being able to stand out will get you further ahead.
- Create a signature for yourself: I go to a very small undergrad school so I tend to cross paths with the same students/professors which makes me easily recognizable. My signature is that I sit at the front row of every class. Professor A came to my class to give a quick lecture on the importance of globalization in professor B's class (both are my professors) and they both joked about how I always sit at the front which makes it easy to spot me. I also ask questions, give commentaries, or say my observations. In that situation I am building the reputation of an engaged student even though I may not be the smartest one in the room and that helps to get recommendation letters from professors
- Build networks with others: People make the mistake of thinking that networking is only with employers and that is so wrong. Being able to have conversations about your major, your background and your hobbies makes it easier to form connections with successful students. I may be competitive in class but outside of class I am forming study groups, workout groups, career groups because I know this is one of the best ways to build relationships thereby create a reputation for myself. My colleagues are presidents of clubs and sometimes they are the ones who interview me for leadership positions and because they can tell by my performance in and out of the classroom, I am easily favored.
- Take advantage of any opportunity to lead: Agree to work on the project, agree to do the presentation, agree to speak for the class if no one else has the confidence to do so. In that way, you are building confidence and a strong reputation with your professors and students. This happened to me last week, no one in class stood up to make a presentation to our guest speaker on the current project we were working on. So, I stood up afraid and I went to the front and pushed through it. Even though I felt I did not do my best, I got recognized by the guest and he asked that I sent my resume for opportunities in his company. Do it afraid and build that reputation for yourself. You'd be surprised by who's watching.
Improve your productivity by setting alarms.
I have 6 different daily alarms I use as a way to check in on myself and to stay focused throughout the day. It is much fun if you label your alarms too :)
The 5am alarm (Start your day!): Whatever it may be for you, but this is the alarm that wakes me up from sleep and through maintaining a regular sleep schedule I feel very ready to get out of bed and start my day. By exercising and writing.
The 7am alarm (Eat that Frog!): This alarm is a reminder to face that giant in you. This means doing that thing you have been procrastinating or working on a habit you want to strengthen. For me, it is a time to go on a long walk. Figure out what you would like to do and designate this alarm to it.
The 10am alarm (How are you this morning?): I have an alarm label how are you doing this morning, and when it goes off, I start reflecting on how my day is going. If I could not journal earlier on, I would use the opportunity to write down my thoughts and feelings.
The 2pm alarm (How are you this afternoon)? This alarm is the most important of all alarms because around this time I am less motivated to work, my energy levels are lower and I am not keeping up with time. Often, I am mindlessly scrolling through pinterest then the alarm goes off and I am forced to quickly set my phone down, take a deep breath, and relax. The reason is that we often don't keep track of time and then we are shocked that half of our entire afternoon was spent on social media.
The 6pm alarm (How are you this evening): I usually use this as a reminder to finish up any tasks that I have at hand, maybe plan for tomorrow, check in with myself, eat dinner, call my friend, watch a movie. Do laundry, cook, or dance.
The 9pm alarm (You did it!): This is a reminder to begin winding down, journalling, night time routine, reflection or whatever seems to make you calm as you about to go to bed. If possible write a gratitude note.
Reminder: This is not tailored to anyone, pick what works best for your situation and lifestyle. You do not need to have 6 alarms to have a great day. Alarms are for those you would love a reminder to either sit right, read a book, journal. You can label your alarms whatever you like. Read this article with discernment!
Pick yourself up
On your toughest days, I hope you remember to take care of yourself. I hope you remember that the person who is procrastinating is also the person who does a great job. I hope you remember that the person who hasn't exercised in three days is also the person who used to run every day. I hope you remember that the person who feels like a wreck was also penning down a gratitude note last week. Every week will not be the same, you might fall back to old habits but pick yourself up. Picking yourself up is the greatest form of love.
I thought I never experienced love,
The rush in your veins,
The racing of your heart,
Things that people call butterflies;
But the love I found was nothing like that,
He was like a fine wine getting better with age,
While I was like a bird rotting in its cage.
He was full of calmness inside,
While I was like a turbulent storm;
Talking with him was all I needed to feel alright,
And his shoulder felt like home;
When he was with me I desired no more,
Because love is found in comfort;
Not in chaos.
