UGHHHHHH i'm rewatching Good Omens and i just realized that the season 1 bookshop burning scene for Crowley was IMMEDIATELY after he was just attacked by demons, so when he tries to call Aziraphale and gets no answer then arrives to see his bookshop on fire he probably assumes it was demonic work to get back at him for "fraternizing" with Aziraphale/The Enemy.. meaning he thought that the shop was burning with hellfire, which is why he says "somebody KILLED my best friend!!"
He immediately assumes Aziraphale was murdered, not that it was a freak accident and Aziraphale probably escaped and is hiding somewhere
They can canonically sense each others presence and when he gets there and can't feel Aziraphale anywhere he believes he's been killed in hellfire, meaning that he thought Aziraphale was not only discorperated, but actually DEAD and erased from existence, that's why he's so distraught
AND he probably thinks Aziraphale was trying to call him as a last desperate effort for help, and he thinks he hung up on him in the middle of an attack and left him to die, so now he blames himself
AND his Bentley was playing "You're My Best Friend" by Queen right before he arrives to see that "somebody killed" HIS best friend 🥺
