the wreckage of a good person

“What is wrong with me” (26, they/them)

PSA: bot comments are taking over ao3

The above examples have been provided with the authors' permission to demonstrate what these look like.

Basic rundown:

  • They are all 3 sentences long
  • Perfect grammar, capitalization, and punctuation
  • Like absolutely flawless English teacher-style writing with only a single exclamation mark, ever
  • No mentions whatsoever of character names, settings, situations, or anything that could be tied to the story
  • The usernames may be identical to people who exist on ao3, but the name is not clickable, and no profile is associated with it EXCEPT when you directly search for that name. What this means: the comments come from an unregistered (not logged in) reader, bots scrape the site for real usernames, attach that to the comment, and post

Please spread the word about this so authors can filter comments and report them accordingly

There has been some speculation about why this is happening at all, and the best guess is that this is a feature that AI-training story-scraping tools are implementing to try and make their browsing traffic look legitimate

oh fuck it’s disability pride month

shoutout to those with chronic illness, physical handicaps, genetic disorders (yo that’s me!!), paralyzed folks, amputees, people who were disabled in accidents, those who were born with their condition, those with mental disorders, those with ptsd, blind folks, deaf folks, people who use wheelchairs, those who have to lug around equipment or else they die (hey that’s me again) and people who have a whole shelf in their fridge or pantry dedicated to their meds. we are loud and beautiful and diverse and incredible. may we finally get the same rights as our abled counterparts

and may accessibility departments return our goddamn phone calls

Seeing people getting annoyed about Elnor beating PIC-era!Data in that one Star Trek character poll is so funny to me.

Like- yes, Elnor was criminally underused. But the foundation of his character is so compelling. He’s a refugee, and an orphan, and he’s even othered from his own culture because of his unusual upbringing. His tragic relationship with Picard as a father figure lets us see JL in an interesting and imperfect light.

And those interesting character beats are wrapped up in a zero-toxic-masculinity type presentation that we very rarely see. Elnor openly cries, he’s unbridledly joyous, he emotes freely - these are things we don’t usually see in men on screen.

He’s a brilliant character, and I really wish the show knew what to do with him after S1.

All that said, I 100% would have voted for a plastic lawn chair if it meant voting against yet another needlessly resurrected, flat-packed, soong-boy.
