So two years ago I got the coolest gig ever. Guillermo Del Toro emailed me and asked if I could make him a trio of bountyhunters for a new show he was producing. Within a few days i was at Dreamworks Television to check out the designs and meet the team! Guillermo, Rodrigo and everyone else were super kind to me and it was a huge pleasure to get to work with them. I loved where i got to go with these ideas, my favorite thing is concocting a design and building the personality underneath as well.
I have a soft spot for Alpha, i wanted him to be just The Worst yet somehow redeemable because he is capable of a version of love for his super scary space pirate mother. But overall? Total bastard. Having Darin De Paul be his voice was a surprise treat I learned about a year after i had made these designs!
Owl hunter was a thrill since i specifically asked for her to be a girl and it was met with approval! I thought it would be neat to see a humongous scary lady who is silent and masked, allowing the viewers to assume things about her due to size and design. But then reveal that it’s a girl..but not make a big deal about it either. I also thought it would be cute if she was also gentle and maybe a bit insecure despite her size. If you click on the link above and look through the development art you can see that i designed her after my own pet lizard , Delilah, an Argentine Black and White tegu!
I don’t know how much of the personalities were used in the actual show since I’m watching it later tonight but I loved writing out my little character quirks!
Anyway I really hope you guys enjoy my designs. Everything else in the show is all by the team at Dreamworks , I can only take credit for the trio shown in my drawings!

You know how sometimes, at the end of a vacation, you're just ready to go back to work? Right now, I'm not. Maybe I will be tomorrow morning, but as I unpack my things, I feel like I have so much mental stuff to unpack as well... but that takes more time than I have? I am curious to see how things have been going, but maybe not entirely ready to get back to problem-solving. This could also be general tiredness talking... definitely time for sleep.
On the bus, heading home from A-camp. Tired, a bit sad, but ready to go home and sleep on my own bed :)
I really want to get Sue Perkin’s hair cut (ngl I obsessed a bit over it while watching GBBO), but I’m pretty sure I’d have to go in for a trim at least once a month, and my current hairdresser just raised her prices...
It may be time to switch if I want to go super-short again. Anyone have any recommendations for a Los Angeles/South Bay barber/stylist that can do boyishly-short-but-not-for-dudes-because-I’m-a-girl-that-wants-short-hair haircuts?

Ahhhh just finished paying for and setting up my flights for A-Camp! For the first time since I’ve heard of it, the camp will not be overlapping with Fanime so I can go this year :D
