It helps to realize that very few people ever learned how to really love. Most parents didn’t learn unconditional love, so they don’t teach their children about it, not with words or with example. Schools never mention it. Churches should be mainly about love, but they’re usually not. There’s no place in most people’s lives where they learn how to be genuinely loving. If people don’t love you, it’s just the natural outcome of living in a world where the ability to love is rare.
