While it’s true that you sometimes can’t trust mainstream news publications for unbiased reporting, you also can’t necessarily trust unsourced rage tweets and instagram infographics for accurate information. Media literacy is in the mf toilet.

There’s always room for human error or bias even in the most reputable news sources, and it’s good to be aware of that and read critically. But if you’re wholly rejecting a news source that employs professional journalists and has standardized vetting and fact-checking processes, while at the same time consuming information uncritically from random social media users with unclear credentials….it may be time to reconsider your approach! I’m also not saying every un-sourced social media post about world events is automatically incorrect but this is why you should consult multiple news sources and develop your discernment skills

Really hate that the queer community's response to the creation of a gender trinary (girl, boy, and nonbinary) was to... reinvent the binary. We just started grouping all genders into "masc/male-aligned" and "fem/female-aligned" and it's so fucking stupid. Even with the occasional allowance of "neutral/unaligned" it still maintains the binary as the standard. And then they don't let you use certain labels if you don't have the "right" gender alignment. The fuck.

So at a party it is socially acceptable to just silently join a circle of people talking and contribute to the conversation when you feel like it as if you already know everyone in the circle, btw.

If you want to know people’s names at some point saying “Sorry, did I catch your name?” or “Sorry, what was your name again?” like you’ve briefly been introduced before is a good move.

I have social anxiety and discovered this by trial and error despite my fears. I took on this burden for all of you so you don’t have to. Trust me. Just stand in the gap in the circle. It’s waiting for you. It’s an event where people are expecting to meet other people. It’s not creepy or weird. They’re there to talk to strangers and friends alike. Just step into the circle.

Not content I normally reblog but libraries are super important and our world would be diminished without them.

The library was how I was able to read so many books as a kid that my parents wouldn’t have been able to afford.

Libraries are one of the only places on Earth that treats people the same no matter how much money you have. We can’t lose that.
