Netflix "Comfortable" With 8FLiX's "Keeping Up" Stranger Things Scripts

Good morning everyone! And a great morning it is!

I promised to keep you updated with my on-going communication with Netflix's IP legal team.

If you remember, after the publishing of the "byler script", and the subsequent "tweet" from the Stranger Things writers, there was significant backlash regarding the authenticity of the script(s).

In response to a Netflix demand letter 8FLiX received on August 12, I wrote a four-page report which detailed sensitive and private information about how 8FLiX came to acquire the season 4 scripts. Also, I briefly touched on the history of 8FLiX's Stranger Things content. Additionally, I attached an original script that I'd received from my source, with unredacted metadata that was created on April 1, 2020.

Since then, I've been in constant contact with Netflix's Director & Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property. It was a friendly and professional dialogue between us. Facts and ideas were exchanged openly. There was no name calling; there was no anger. No threats were given by either of us. It was... refreshing.

Netflix's concerns were 8FLiX's misuse of intellectual property; "leaked" and public. More so, Netflix was bothered that fans of Stranger Things felt they were "duped" into paying for scripts.

8FLiX's concern was the incendiary "Tweet" presumed to be directed at us and made without context or details. Additionally, 8FLiX's resolute position that the scripts came from whom we believed is a legit source. I also reported that GoFundMe and 8FLiX reversed the donations from more than 165 donors, many of whom are under 18-years-old.

I am pleased to report that on Wednesday August 24, 8FLiX received a positive response from Netflix:

"We've discussed internally and we are comfortable with you keeping up the scripts and teleplays."

"In the future, please take care to not post any "leaked" scripts or any scripts that do not correspond with the series as launched. We wish you luck!"

So, this is obviously great news for 8FLiX and Stranger Things fans!

What does this mean?

Basically, I was not turned into goo or dust and banished to the Upside Down!

It also means that 8FLiX's Stranger Things content will remain online for everyone! Additionally, all scripts we have from Stranger Things 4 (and 1 and 2) will be published! However, scripts will not include anything "leaked" or that is not in tune with the series as released (basically, there will be no surprises). The scripts will be clearly watermarked (the wording of the mark has not been determined yet).

I want to send a thank you to Netflix and the Stranger Things team for allowing me to continue! Also, I want to thank those who stuck with me when the proverbial sh*t hit the fan. Thank you for believing me and believing in me. ~ NR

what does any of this mean for the validity of the scripts you've posted
