If you ever have bad self esteem while practicing and are feeling not so great about your progress, I encourage you to watch videos of yourself playing in 6th grade.

When I had an audition for one college, I knew I messed up some things and the guy looked at me and said “well, we don’t want perfection. You can’t teach someone who is perfect. Think about your playing four years ago, and think about what we can do with four years of instruction. But we can’t do anything with perfection.” And that has kinda stuck with me.
