according to ~some dude on reddit~, I don't have synesthesia because it doesn't precisely match ~some other dude's very specific and individual experience of it~, but for the rest of the world (and my doctors), I have synesthesia.

these images are composites. i can't paint all of the information i get from music. think of these as overall impressions of the song, rather than direct 1:1 translations. there's also artistic choices in here. i am, after all, an artist, and that does influence the things I make. shocker, I know. also some of these things just don't make sense without some outside influence on the composition. *shrug*

anyway, yeah. maybe it's just bad sensory wiring, maybe I'm nuts, maybe it's maybelline. who knows. this is part of my reality, so I'm sharing it with y'all.

google, the company responsible for webp, is now trying to inflict a new incompatible image format on the collective users of the internet. they have dropped support in chrome for the most promising new image format, a backwards-compatible updated version of jpeg, known as jpeg xl.

instead, they are trying to push their own worse format, avif, on everybody. the reason they prefer avif is because it is based on their previous video format, av1, and this would make it slightly cheaper for them to create scrolling previews on youtube videos.

if you don’t want google to make your web experience worse, again, you can comment on their decision on this chromium bug, as long as you have a google account.

Also PLEASE INSTALL FIREFOX FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP USING CHROME OR ITS DERIVATIVES (basically* any browser that isn’t Firefox or Safari is gonna be a chromium fork)

There’s a great add-on for Firefox that circumvents webp formats!

Like yall really dont think further than the length of your noses. The issues with ai goes way beyond artists and copyrights.

Like when this kind of tech gets more easily accessible its bound to be used for harassment, misinformation, revenge p0rn and any other evil ideas people can come up with. Ai and similar forms of tech is not just stealing artworks, a lot of those generators scrape the web without checking *what* images they are training these ai’s on.

If you don't believe in just how unethical these AI generators are, it was recently discovered that a lot of them use a dataset that includes PEOPLE'S ACTUAL MEDICAL RECORDS AND PICTURES (As well as, you know, lots and lots of stolen images from similar sources) These generation tools do not discriminate on the kinds of data they take in. And of course, that means they can be used to create some really heinous stuff. If you guys thought deepfakes were scary, this has the potential to be much worse.
