Maddie is the field specialist “I’ll let poisonous insects bite me to see what it does” genius and Jack is the shut in “I’m gonna use gene editing to cure my lactose intolerance” genius and no one can fight me on this characterization

Adding on to this, I’d think it just be hysterical for both of them to figure out half of Danny’s identity. Maddie clocks Phantoms “Dannyness” first and just thinks it’s some kind of mimicking behavior so she tries to lure him with stuff Danny likes, ultimately ending with her saying stuff like “Hey fellow GigaChad, I’ve got dank tickets to see Humpty Dumpty and a moon rock signed by Buzz Aldrin ” and Danny has to sit there deciding where to take the bait or not.

And then Jack is always up super late, working on hyperfixation #5789 and downing a plate of snacks so he runs into Danny sneaking in and out the most. Jack of course helps Danny with his injuries but never thinks to question them because *stuff happens when you science* and he notices Danny has ectoplasm mixed in with his blood which prompts him to say “oh cool, ya know I had ecto-contamination like this once. I blasted myself with a proto-portal to study ecto acne for Vladdie but it just gave me cool ghost powers for a while before I figured out you could remove them by blasting yourself twice. Don’t tell your mother, she’d be pretty upset” and Danny just sits there reevaluating his life choices

Writing is just taking the history of your maladaptive daydream universe and putting it on paper so others can suffer right along side your self insert protagonist

As we move into the next space and/or dark age I propose that our fashion and architecture embrace that we live in the dieselpunk timeline

I dreamt I was falling upwards through a void surrounded by skyscraper sized tentacles made of flesh and porcelain mosaics and these things all eventually came together in a massive human form that kept pulling and ripping at these red strings that extended in all directions and eventually I ended up on this things shoulder and I whispered “you will never destroy the multiverse” into its ear and it got mad and I got yeeted into a different dream scene and I don’t know how to feel about this

I see a lot of confusion on how type Blues and type Greens operate, but to me it seems rather self explanatory in clefs articles.

The Hume is a measurement of how much reality there is at a specific point in space. A more indepth description would be how “real” particles at that point are. Think a sliding scale between virtual, unstable and stable particles, but the particles themselves aren’t just what is being weakened or strengthened. The accompanying fundamental fields are distorted as well. The Hume field is the quantum field from which Hume fluctuations arise.

EVE or Alan Vital is a particle that carries force within that field. Much like how electrons carry heat, EVE naturally flows away from areas of high Hume to area of low Hume to try and achieve ontological equilibrium.

Hue equates to wavelength and determines the scale of the particle and field distortions. Pitch equates to spin and determines wether the particles/fields will be stabilized, destabilized or virtualized. Weave is roughly equivalent to electric charge. It determines how receptive the affected sink Hume field to the changes made by the source Hume field. the strength of weave is determined by the “observations” made by the particles or their masses at the EVE radiation point. Inanimate objects have sparse weave. Living organisms have loose to tight weave. Deities have locked weave.

Greens are humans with unnaturally high Hume levels and thus are constantly shedding EVE and distorting particle behavior and fundamental forces in the vicinity, thus the accompanying hate for their antics. Even if some of them are well intentioned.

Blues are humans with Hume levels within baseline range, but through intense mindfulness training and some altered belief systems learn how to raise or lower their body’s Hume levels. Potentially even down to the milliHume. They achieve this by shifting their weave from loose to tight and vise versa. This allows them to either act as a sink to draw environmental EVE to their point or act as a source that directs it away from their location. VERITAS tech operates by tracking the EVE payloads they carry on them at any given time.

The key difference is that Blues require an external source of EVE to draw from, where as Greens produce it at all time. In terms of what’s it’s like to fight a Blue vs a Green. There is no difference. That’s why Clef mentions wizards in his hallucinogen seminar.

now that s3′s been officially confirmed, here’s a couple of things i want to see

  • obviously the umbrella academy kids interacting with sparrow academy!ben
  • will the sparrow academy kids be super possessive of their ben? or is he actually that much of an asshole that they all but yeet him in the original kids’ direction
  • the umbrella academy and sparrow academy kids duking it out at first, while klaus and his counterpart (if they do have counterparts) just sit back, smoke some weed, and talk about the finer points of life
  • reggie finally receiving his comeuppance, i don’t care how, just make it slow and painful
  • a vanya and reggie scene where she berates him for every single thing he did to her
  • a luther and reggie scene where he berates him for every single thing he did to him
  • a diego and reggie scene where he–you know what, you get the point
  • what happened to the last swede???? and klaus’ cult?
  • if klaus’ cult is still present in the new timeline, will they just worship klaus all the more for looking exactly the same as when he’d left them, or would they hate him for leaving them so abruptly and without a proper goodbye at that
  • vanya scaring the living crap out of reggie with her powers
  • honestly just give me all the scenes where reggie loses all semblance of control over his kids
  • battle scenes where the sparrow academy and umbrella academy kids have to work together
  • and surprise, surprise, their powers are actually complimentary instead of contradictory to each other’s!!!!!!
  • cue all the awesome battle move combo scenes
  • klaus, vanya, and allison sharing more time together
  • more scenes of diego and herb’s developing friendship
  • ben slowly but surely warming up to his “other” family
  • the umbrella academy kids each trying to protect ben in their own way, and when he finally snaps because he isn’t “a fucking child, alright, i’m number one here” and klaus–who up until this point has been holding up quite well–finally punching him and going “you asshat, in case it wasn’t obvious from the last 235213423 times we’ve saved your life, we don’t want to lose you again!!!!!”
  • plus the sparrow academy kids just going *shocked pikachu face* in the background
  • GIMME MORE VANYA AND DIEGO BONDING SCENES PLEASE
  • the umbrella kids re-meeting pogo and having to introduce themselves all over again
  • and for fuck’s sake, just give diego the closure he needs with grace
  • also: considering it’s a new timeline and diego and patch had never met, does this mean she’s still out there
  • BUT DEAR LORD PLEASE DONT GIVE ME A PATCH/DIEGO/LILA LOVE TRIANGLE IM SICK AND TIRED OF THAT BS
  • instead, give me patch and lila ganging up on diego and bullying him at every turn for being such a stubborn little shit sometimes
  • SISSY AND VANYA REUNION
  • KLAUS AND DAVE REUNION!!!!
  • istg dave better be alive, because klaus cannot take any more pain, and so can i
  • I THINK WE’RE ALONE NOW

Yo, people with acne

These are hydrocolloid bandages. They work wonders at pulling fluid through skin and absorbing all that gunk.

You can cut them down to size, wear them on your face at night, and in the morning you’ll see a noticeable difference plus the bandage visibly absorbs the goo and it’s gross but weirdly satisfying.

They’re cheaper than most acne products, they work, and 1 pack lasts for ages. They’re sold in the band-aid section of most pharmacies; try them if you can.

it’s the same stuff they use to make those new acne spot patches, but

  • medical grade material, absorbs more fluid
  • much cheaper
  • comes in a large size you can trim down. some people use hole punchers to cut out circles to wear during the day. i trim large rectangles to use on problem spots at night

These are also absolutely game-changing for anybody with a skin-picking problem. This is a judgment-free zone, I’ve Been There, and there are plenty of times I still find myself unable to leave something alone, whether it be a bug bite or a pimple or whathaveyou, because it’s There and I can’t ignore it long enough for it to properly heal.

Hydrocolloids basically act as a scab over the thing you can’t stop bothering, and as Gaud mentions above, they absorb gunk, which makes them bubble up like a little artificial blister. It’s so satisfying, you have something to pokepokepoke at, without actually hecking up the thing healing under the bubble.

These are, hands down, the fastest way to get problem spots under control; you can leave them on for multiple days at a time (up to a week, actually), based on the size, location and severity of your picky spot, so you can slap a hydrocolloid on something minor before it becomes a problem, and four days later or so you peel it off and there is no more problem, just smooth new skin. (They minimize scarring too, in case that’s something anybody else has psychological issues with.)

Basically, these are magical and they’re worth every. single. cent.

well hot damn

have you noticed if they help with old scarring? my picky areas are kind of my entire upper arms, back of neck, and various shoulder regions.

Yannow what? I have no idea? My instincts say probably not, hydrocolloids help speed up a natural bodily healing process called debridement (DON’T LOOK UP PHOTOS THEY’RE HORRIFYING), so once your body’s finished bombing an area with white blood cells and scar tissue’s formed, I want to say a hydrocolloid won’t do anything.

That being said, there’s another option in the ‘stick a gooey bandage on it and ignore it for a while’ field of treatment, and they’re called “silicone scar sheets.” They’ve been used as a treatment for scarring, both new and old, since the 90’s, and while I can’t personally vouch for their efficacy, apparently they do actually work?

I see ‘em at the pharmacy all the time, and I’ve been too put off by the price to have actually noticed that apparently they’re reusable???

I just learned this in the last thirty minutes, so I’m here like “?????” but more critically, scientists are also like “?????” because despite having been in effective use for thirty-some years, they don’t know how or why silicone gel treatments work. This is honestly hilarious to me and has piqued my contrarian nature, so TELL YA WHAT:

I will run a field test for you! If one box of silicone gel sheets actually is the two-month supply it advertises itself to be, they’re cheaper than an equal volume of hydrocolloids, especially if there’s an equivalent store brand. I’ve got a couple largeish, unlovely surgical scars I wouldn’t mind being rid of, so. Yeah.

I’ll pick up some scar sheets this week and try ‘em out, then update you on how that goes. Call me weird, but I won’t recommend something to somebody else unless I have firsthand experience with something, and I have intense opinions about bandaid-type products.

LET’S SEE HOW IT GOES

in my experience, silicone sheets are quite helpful for scars!

  • i’ve seen studies mention that they probably work by keeping the area continually moist (love that awful word. MOIST.) but no one’s really sure
  • i’ve noticed the most improvement when using them on new scars for 2 or 3 weeks, but you can still get long-term improvement for months afterwards

the one annoyance i’ve had is some brands don’t stick very well, so you may have to tape over them or try another brand. they also make silicone gel, which is applied like a liquid bandage. there’s less research on the effectiveness of gel, so if you use it, i recommend applying a normal silicone sheet over it (buy the sheet + gel pack if you can).

but yeah, silicone will be especially helpful for newer scars, so apply it sooner rather than later. that said, it should improve the appearance of old scar if worn long enough.

note: silicone sheets are more expensive but can be worn for much longer than hydrocolloid bandages. they don’t absorb gunk and can be wiped off, so there’s nothing preventing you from wearing them for weeks at a time. like hydrocolloid bandages, there are plenty of generic options.
