What is unitypunk?
Unitypunk is a disabled subculture encompassing other movements like cripplepunk, neuropunk, madpunk, and pluralpunk, as well as other movements like the anti-psych, pro-delusion, and pro-self-diagnosis movements. It's focus is on building a single, disability-justice-focused coalition; a united face against all kinds of ableism
To this end, the movement rejects gatekeeping of terms and talking about experiences based on having the "right" diagnoses or the right "kinds" of diagnoses. It is focused on assuming good faith, on people's similar experiences being shared in turn as a way of saying "I understand, and stand by you", on pulling up chairs rather than building up walls.
This is partly in response to small but vocal minorities within the community who insist that their experiences are entirely unique to their diagnosis or type of disability, and that disabled folks of other kinds are not welcome in their conversations about disability justice. This flies in the face of intersectional anti-ableism, and as I and other physically disabled neurodivergent people have noted, often leaves us unable to talk about a full half of our experiences.
The foundation of unitypunk is that the brain and body are inextricably interconnected - all physical organs that are interdependent on one another - and that while for some the symptoms of physical and psychological disabilities may be entirely separate or different, for others they are impossible to differentiate or functionally the same. The gut is the second brain. The body keeps the score (of trauma). Where in your body do you hold your emotions? The mind-body connection. All commonly used phrases when talking about disability, all illustrating this connection.
A psychological condition may be physically disabling. Autism can cause significant mobility issues. Anxiety can cause cardiac issues. Something like agoraphobia may cause someone to become as effectively housebound as someone with mobility issues and an inaccessible door. A physical condition may also be psychologically disabling. Absorption issues in the gut, particularly in regards to vitamins D and B12, can wreak havoc on the brain. Thyroid and adrenal/endocrine issues are one of the first things tested when seeking a mental health diagnosis. And of course, chronic illness can cause depression, anxiety, and trauma. Whether direct or indirect, the effects are the same; a complexity to the manifestation of symptoms that cannot be neatly squared away into little boxes.
This movement recognizes that only by recognizing and celebrating the breadth and depth of that complexity will we be able to achieve true disabled community and solidarity. It prioritizes a united front over personal differences. You don't have to like the disabled person next to you, but we all have to put aside any petty squabbles and fight for each other, or go down together. This includes being intersectional and inclusive of all other identities, whether you understand them or not. This means not disparaging or writing off identities, and judging people for their actions, not their labels. It also means, while it's fine to make spaces focused on a specific aspect or kind of disability, that it's important to recognize that real life experiences are messy and won't always respect neat lines being drawn. This is especially true of the experiences of physically disabled neurodivergent people, who are multiply marginalized and deserve to have our experiences heard and respected.
The most important things you can do here are to talk, and to *listen*. This account, this *movement*, is just a starting line. The end goal is total disabled liberation, and the only way we will get there is marching together.
Hi!! I hope this finds you well,, ive been looking to convert / reconnect with judaism religiously and unsure where to even find any good sources that goes over beliefs and guides. A lot of websites im very weary of being messianic....and when they arent I keep getting things that end with 'well just find a congregation near you!'
Unfortunately I am surrounded by church camps and don't have accesses to any synagogues so its a bit....er..difficult. Are there any resources you may know of?
Hey!! That's awesome :) it's annoying not to have an shuls near u (which I think u would need for an actual conversion) but there r plenty of good sites online !!
personally I didn't convert so I'll see If any converts can give u further more in depth details but I'll tell u my favourite websites for jewish info! Idk if ur converting to reform or Conservative or orthodox but I'm reform so most of these sites are reform/general information. I was raised culturally jewish but not religiously and when I was first getting into the religion I bought this cheapass book second hand but I swear but it is so good its called "the everything judaism book" by Richard Bank (I think its mostly reform jew/a tad Conservative focus)
Some sites:
Chabad.org - jewish news and information
18doors.org jewish holidays cheat sheet (hopefully the hyperlink works) - in 2020 I was really into judaism twitter and a friend of mine on there sent me this and its been really helpful 4 me
Jewish book Council- website with a huge collection of jewish books
myjewishlearning.com
reformjudaism.org
Subscribe to newsletters from the last 2 sites I suggested they always send u interesting stuff
Hopefully some converts will see this post!
Good luck !! U can dm me btw
Whoa there, pardner! What have you done to make sure that belief or practice actually originates in ancient times and didn't come from the imagination of a repressed Victorian romantic?
Oh my god the way non transsexuals have come to use AFAB and AMAB is unfuckingreal. Just witnessed local queer community discourse cuz someone put up a local ad saying they were looking for a “female AFAB performer” and a “male AMAB performer” and you fucking know they thought they were being sooo progressive there. I’ve seen so many non trans kweers and leftists become SO comfortable resorting to blatant sex based segregation and bioessentialist rhetoric under the guise of progressive trans-friendly activist language with AFAB and AMAB being the very obvious new female and male. The rise of “AFAB-only events” “women and AFAB groups” “no AMABs” shit etc, even saw a trans guy recently complaining about a kink event being “AMAB only,” it’s just fucking awfullllllll like… This anti-trans bioessentialism has always been an issue obviously but man am I tired of it being wrapped up in the current progressive language. Once more y’all found a way to boil us down to our natal genitals but this time you’re allies for it. Super cool. We seriously need to return to the CAFAB/CAMAB/“coercive assignment” language that was largely dropped due to it being too “extreme” and making people uncomfortable again lol. And maybe even start exclusively referring to these terms as past tense to keep y’all remembering that this was genital-based categorization thrust upon us (sometimes physically violently so in the case of intersex folk), a literal tangible action, rather than an active, immutable aspect of current identity. Jesus.
Let's talk a bit about polari.
As you may know a lot of current "gay" phrases are taken from AAVE. But we like having a community with language of our own. That doesn't mean we have to take another marginalized group's language.
In fact there is a gay vernacular. It's called polari and since we don't have as many of the queer folks from before the AIDS crisis around to teach it to us, it's dying, but it doesn't have to.
There is an app called Polari Mission. I'm not sure what it looks like on ios but for me on Android through Google Play it's an app just called "Polari" with the image of a rainbow chat bubble. It includes a dictionary, quiz style game play, maps of the spread of polari through Europe, and links + resources. I highly recommend giving it a look and perhaps picking up a few phrases. In fact, you might know a few already because some are part of mainstream conversation or guessable if you know a language besides from English (or if you're decent at spelling words backwards).
It would be a shame if we let polari die out. It contains a part of queer history that is more tangible than just reading a Wikipedia article (which are important too, don't get me wrong) and helps us connect with history that couldn't always be recorded. Plus, it would definitely be a good way to discuss queer topics in iffy spaces, as it was originally created to.

Imagine stiles and Derek in college and they’re always fighting over a seat.
Derek sat there the first day.
Stiles missed the first day but he got there early the next day and sat there
Derek sat somewhere else. But the next next day Derek got there earlier and sat there.
Stiles lets it go and runs to class the fourth time and sits there.
It goes on for the first month of school until stiles is out of breathe 20 mins early to class and Derek is casually sitting there.
And they start arguing.
They argue until people start coming and realizes it’s embarrassing to fight over a seat in college.
So they try to keep it quite and say whoever gets there first gets the seat.
Until one day they get there at the same time and see someone else sitting there.
Fucking Greenburg.
Who they both immediately kickoff and they both start fighting over it.
It ends with stiles and Derek sitting on each other.
The students are fed up and the teacher is fed up at this point. The teacher ends up getting the desks removed and has everyone sitting on the floor.
But even then stiles and Derek are still knee to knee smiling next to each other.
Please tell me this spills over to their wedding day where someone (probably Cora or Parrish) takes one of the chairs away from the head table at the wedding reception so there's only one chair for the grooms.
Or, Derek keeps a spare chair in his car so whenever he and Stiles go anywhere and Stiles calls dibs on the seat he rocks up like
Imagine sterek Au where Derek is a master criminal who always escapes before he gets id’d and is only identified when stiles a deputy recognizes him from magic camp where Derek specializes in escaping from restraints and other traps.
I haven’t yet seen a tumblr post with these resources so I am making my own and hoping it shows up in the tags. I ASK EVERYONE WHO SEES THIS TO PLEASE REBLOG THIS.
THE INDIAN CHILD WELFARE ACT (ICWA) IS UNDER ATTACK. AND WE NEED HELP TO PROTECT IT USING THE RESOURCES BELOW.
I am not going to go into heavy detail on the bill, on its history, anything like that, the resources have a lot of information, but as a little bit of background:
It is a bill passed that forbids Native children from being adopted by non-Native families. This is for a good fucking reason, there have been historically large scoops of children taken from their Native families, at a much higher rate than white children (see the 60s scoop in Canada). These children are often abused in these homes, and their entire culture is taken from them (many end up not even knowing what tribe/nation they came from), hence the point of why they were taken in the first place (forced assimilation). Now, this does still happen through the foster care system, but this has protected in the case of adoption. It makes it that only Native families can adopt Native children.
White people hate this and have been smearing it for years (think of the whole Lexi Choctaw/Alexandria P. situation, which was so fucked how they used that little girl). Now, the state governments of Texas, Louisiana, and Indiana have taken it to the Supreme Court to be ruled unconstitutional. This case is called Haaland v. Brackeen. Because white people … really want to steal Native children. This is being heard by the court, oral arguments start WEDNESDAY. ICWA could be overturned in the matter of weeks or even days.
PLEASE USE ALL OF THESE TO PROTECT ICWA:
Petition that will involve you sending messages to your Congressional leaders through their text automated system, only available to those in the US (BUT NOTE YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A CITIZEN, OR ELIGIBLE TO VOTE TO SIGN, JUST NEED TO BE IN THE US):
Petition to send a message to President Biden and leaders at the Department of Justice, this does have a place to put in your country so seems like it may be available for those outside of the US but I am unsure (consider also donating to the Lakota People’s Law Project if you are able to):
Petition to be sent to the Attorney General and Secretary of the Department of the Interior, since it is through change.org it likely can be signed from outside of the US:
PLEASE SIGN AS MANY AS YOU ARE ABLE TO. PLEASE REBLOG IF YOU SEE THIS. PLEASE HELP US PROTECT ICWA.
Also if you see that post floating around that says “don’t interact with brand accounts”: that only applies to capitalistic for-profit corporations. Nonprofit organizations like museums and the Monterey Bay Aquarium are okay to interact with, in fact interact with them as much as possible

Do not talk about your abusive family on tiktok. Do not talk about your closeted identity on tiktok. Do not talk about your traumas and mental illnesses on tiktok. Do not talk about your plans to move out from your abusive household on tiktok. Do not talk about the ways you disagree with your bigoted family on tiktok.
Do not attach your face or voice to anything on tiktok that you do not want your family members, neighbors, coworkers, or classmates to see. Be smart and stay safe.
Before posting ANYTHING on tiktok, ask yourself what could happen if your video is recommended to someone who recognizes you in real life.
If you're talking about your abusive mother, what will happen if one of her friends sees your video? If you're talking about being a closeted trans teen, what will happen if your friend's parents see your video? Will there be consequences? Will you be in danger? Are you in a safe enoigh position where that information getting out wouldn't put you at risk? What information do you want circulating about yourself?
Hey, I'm seeing some concerning tags on this post so I want to clarify something:
Your parents not using tiktok/not being good with the internet in general does not mean you're safe from them finding your videos. I have a cousin who posted about her mom's abuse on tiktok and that video was recommended to a family friend who showed it to her mom.
Your videos could be seen by a classmate who tells their parents who tells your parents. They could be seen by a teacher who calls your parent about them. They could be seen by one of your parents' coworkers or your cousins or your siblings or one of your neighbors or a hundred other people who could eventually lead it to your parents somehow.
Do not attach your face to this shit. Do not share any identifying information. Tiktok specifically reocmmends videos based on location, your phone contacts, and any other social media you're connected to. Your videos will reach someone you don't want seeing them, even if you turn off location settings.
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT!!!!
I POSTED A VIDEO CALLING OUT MY ABUSIVE MOM AND IT GOT RECOMMENDED TO MY LITTLE SISTER
STAY SAFE GUYS!!!!!!!
