I had a 1000XM3 that unfortunately cracked when the headband broke. This fragility, along with poor sound quality, made me hate the price I paid for them. Sony was kind enough to replace them with a new model. I decided to resell them and use some of the profits to upgrade to this model. So far, they are working great! I'm still worried about the durability, but for now I plan to use them only for walking and driving around town. Hopefully that will reduce the risk of damage. The sound performance is still great, I wish I had done a comparison test to measure the differences between the DSEE modes, but I left them on without issue. The noise cancellation is outstanding, and phone calls finally work (I'm sure the other person is stoned too, which means their phone's noise cancellation is mixing with Sony's cancellation). The result is satisfying, but the sound isn't as clear and full as I'd like it to be. But these are voice calls, so I take what I can get. I will always highly recommend them, but not necessarily the Bose alternatives, as I haven't listened to them yet. They are excellent in every way and for someone who wants hands-free calling, the 1000XM series is ultimately a must have. I bought my pair from
