Jacob Blake’s sister: ‘I’m not sad. I’m not sorry. I’m angry. And I’m tired. I haven’t cried one time. I stopped crying years ago. I am numb. I have been watching police murder people that look like me for years.’
Required watching.
[I am my brother’s keeper, and when you say the name Jacob Blake, make sure you say “father,” make sure you say “cousin,” make sure you say “son,” make sure you say “uncle,” but most importantly, make sure you say “human.” Human life. Let it marinate–in your mouth, in your mind. A human life, just like every single one of y’all… We’re human. His life matters. So many people have reached out to me telling me they’re sorry that this happened to my family. Well don’t be sorry, because this has been happening to my family for a long time. Longer than I can account for. It happened to Emmett Till. Emmett Till is my family. Philando. Mike Brown. Sandra. This has been happening to my family. And I’ve shed tears for every single one that it’s happened to. This is nothing new. I’m not sad. I’m not sorry. I’m angry. And I’m tired. I haven’t cried one time. I stopped crying years ago. I am numb. I have been watching police murder people that look like me for years. I’m also a Black history minor. So, not only have I been watching it in the thirty years I’ve been on this planet, but I’ve been watching it for years before we were even alive. I’m not sad. I don’t want your pity. I want change.]
Good news that we deserve 😌
for people who can’t watch the video: THE AMYGDALA CHANGES TRADITIONALLY FOUND IN MOTHERS SHOW UP IN ALL PRIMARY CAREGIVERS REGARDLESS OF SEX
Changes in this part of the brain were previously used to previously used to argue that women are the ideal primary caretakers of children in all cases. And apparently, it’s false. The reason they found these changes in women was that women were already the primary caretaker in almost all cases, not because there’s something inherent to women that makes them better parents.
this is big news for SAHF and single dads!
it’s also another example as to why same-gender couples and trans parents are capable of fully loving and caring for children, even though they are frequently barred from doing so under government and private guidelines in many places.

You all always forget her excellent Maid Marian
Hey, you forgot Shoomlah’s updated version of Pocahontas:
Shoomlah said: Finally updated Pocahontas! I don’t think this is what people were expecting as the next entry in the series, but some of the criticisms of my first design have been eating away at me for years now and I needed to get off my ass and address them. So hey! Spunky age-appropriate Pocahontas/Matoaka, sans feathers in the hair/European imagery/other superfluous details. This is closer to accounts and illustrations of Powhatan dress from the period, and I kinda think it’s closer to the Disney design anyway. WIN/WIN. Thanks to everyone who’s educated my ass over the past couple of years, including moniquill, apihtawikosisan, this-is-not-native, and numerous others. You’ve made me a way more thoughtful artist in the process.
Reblogging bc I loveloveloveloveloveloveLOVE the updated Pocahontas. Too many people sexualize her. Major props for taking the time and care to fix this!
@unipugsat221b look at snow white’s dress, it’s so pretty
Okay, but these are better??
