"Wombxxn" is an incredibly dumb way of spelling "woman" that treats the word "man" like a slur and also reduces women to their ability to give birth.

"Trans identified" is their way of saying "this person calls themselves trans, but I don't believe they are."

Saying "People should be allowed to identify however they wish, but we still need to protect women/children" IS TERF SHIT.

Learn to identify this garbage, because not all TERFs are going to spell out their intolerance for you. Some of them are going to try and seem reasonable and polite and normal, and it's fucking dangerous to our community.

Also unpack any internalized transphobia and your transmedicalism, because both those things will have you quickly siding with TERFs and bigots.

ICYMI, there was fear that companies were scraping public AO3 fics to train their AI without the consent of AO3 or its users. That fear has been confirmed.

AO3 has written about what they’re doing (and what they’re not able to do), and they recommend restricting your work to AO3 registered users only. [Instructions here]

This gross misuse of the archive by techbros is why I’ve locked down my fics for the foreseeable future. I recommend the rest of you do the same.

@lordoftherazzles made a quick guide for ao3 authors to lock all their works at once for registered users only here!

Someone recently messaged me worried I’d deleted all my fic - it’s all still there, it’s just locked to A03 because of this and other skimming instances.

Please note that many fanfic authors are locking their stories so that they are only accessible to registered Ao3 users.

They’re still there at Ao3. The authors have made this choice to protect their work from misuse/AI scanning.

I'm rewatching DS9 again and formulating a Star Trek witcher AU in my head but I'm stuck on a couple details:

Idk what species Eskel should be. He's too calm to be a Klingon but who else is big and beefy enough to be Mr. built-like-a-brick-shithouse, himself? And I need him to be a federation (or close allied who would be welcome in starfleet) species.

And idk what species Ciri should be. I suppose she could be human but I don't think that does her service, since she should be extra powerful.

(also yes this is basically a DS9 AU and Jaskier is a Bajoran musician/former spy for the resistance)

Once I know what species Eskel and Ciri are I can actually work on it.

See the thing is though, Lambert is already a Klingon and I kinda want Geralt, Lambert, and Eskel to all be different species. It works with my backstory better.

I did think for a long time about Eskel being an unusually gentle Klingon tbf!!! It was my first idea too. But I just don't think it's right for my idea 😔

Ciri being the same species as The Traveler is an interesting idea 🤔🤔 I was thinking she was more of a known species and not something quite so rare but hmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Okay The Traveler is cool and his powers are similar to normal Ciri's, true, but for this AU I just don't think that's gonna work. :(

I don't think I can explain a being from that species being orphaned, let alone orphaned in our universe. And Ciri needs to be able to be adopted by Geralt in this AU too.

I'm going closer to book versions btw so Ciri is like 9 or 10 when Geralt adopts her.

I have conferred with my best friend and we have agreed that Ciri being a betazoid could work really well!!!

We're still having trouble with Eskel though 😩
