Noire Art Covers

@pulpnoire

An account dedicated to pulp noir cover art. Cover suggestions always open. Some covers may be suggestive. It/he/she/they, Henrietta. Not a daily account, and not very active.

Hi and welcome to my account. This account is dedicated to posting mostly pulp noir covers and its subgenres, but will occasionally divulge from that. I'll try my best to post the original artist, or a link to the original. This account is purely out of my own interest and to help give attention to the art of old pulp novels. Feel free to submit any noir covers through DM or submission.

All posts follow the format of the artist name, what the piece was used for, and the year it was made or published in.

My name is Henrietta or Hal, whichever is fine. My main is @vvorldtours and I run an account similar to this one on twitter, which is under @pulpnoire as well. I am Non-Binary and Nicaraguense/Filipino and use it/he/she/they pronouns. Please be respectful of this and don't bring any bigoted views on my account, as I'm not hesitant to block you and am not going to argue or bother ✌🏽

Artist Unknown, cover art for The Scorpion, 1919

A bit of history about the novel itself rather than the cover art, but The Scorpion was one of the first lesbian novels in Germany openly discussing lesbian relationships in a way that is positive. The author, Anna Elisabet Weirauch was also a lesbian herself, who lived with her partner, Helena Geisenhainer, and had been together for nearly 40 years up until their deaths in the 1960s/70s. Der Skorpion is one of her best known works and among the various other novels she wrote about lesbians and their relationships.
