The Swords Grow wild: Avtoxier (Toxotes) Descendants of organic personal firearms, Avtoxier are an incredibly diverse group that makes up much of the Heliconia's biosphere, similar to Earth's insects and rodents. Toxotes are aquatic Avtoxier that generally hunt through suction feeding, or via a symbiotic relationship with Volipods, descendants of ammunition that generally act as digestive or reproductive extensions of Toxotes. Some Volipods exist as magazine-organ spawned organisms within the host Toxote body, while others exist freely as a separate entity until consumed by a Toxote. Many species are not purely of ancient origin, being re-modified into weapons by an unknown colonist species and later abandoned to go feral once again.

Partly due to a slew of posts you made a while back and partly because my hobby-motivation is creeping back to me, I am considering making myself a little webbed site to keep my art on and id like to ask: Is there any particular reason you chose neocities specifically to build your weasel nest on? As opposed to whatever else is out there? (LOVE ur site btw)

- VERY easy to navigate for an amateur. Love the drag-in file directory. It’s just like the free host I used when I was a kid! And the coding client points out simple errors, so that’s helpful.
- Lots of hosts are oriented toward businesses and building fucking. Web stacks. Kyle Drake markets Neocities as an infinite canvas for non-commercial expression, and there’s no plugins or security to juggle. I didn’t even need to buy an SSL certificate!!!!!! I HATE BUYING SSL CERTIFICATES
- It’s the only host I can think of that still does the “check out what other sites we host” thing. The modest community aspects of Neocities make it a great scrolling replacement for social media. Massages my gray matter. Plus you can follow sites you like!
- It’s Free. If I sucked at it, I could just log off.
Overall the answer is: because it’s a gentle transition away from dumbed-down internet! Easy to handle, forgiving to learn on, and won’t give you “like” button withdrawals.
There’s other indie hosts, if you wanna look into something more DIY— Kalechips made a list that I found pretty enlightening. So far I have limited but decent experience with Namecheap and AwardSpace.
