Conspicuous Conspiracies

Obvious is Relative

Well, thank you, confidently woke British white man, John Oliver. I’m serious. He really is not an idiot. You, Mr. Oliver, actually made a positive impression. And thank you to HBO for your ability to at least sometimes succeed at not being permanently and stubbornly stuck in the well long since over dark ages of modern culture.

This video is from May 2021. But I never saw it until now. And damn, was this level of tone-normal-hearing-ness (not tone-deaf) decades or more overdue already back then.

America, wake the fuck up. Black people are equal citizens under this exhausting country’s constitution like everybody else... Why does anyone even have to utter words such as those at this late stage in our world? For fuck sake...

This conversation is so tired. Please. Make this obsolete. This is embarrassing, America. We are SUPPOSED to be better than this. What is the hold up? Why are we at the absolute back of the line of progress?!!!

Fuck!

If you don’t know what I’m saying, and you aren’t black, please. Watch it.

I cried for minutes here when I found this place. White-looking boy crying in the street on his bike, feeling the injustice he has the unfair privilege to have the choice to ignore. This message inspired me more than anything has in such damn long time. There has been so much pain in the world for so long. Why is that good? Because its existence means there are lessons within it so important, that they will not be ignored and will not be forgotten. That pain. Sit with it, face it and feel it. And it will tell you what matters to you, and therefore what must be done. What is this human nature they’re always yakking about? Are humans so dumb they don’t even know they’re just another animal that evolved to fill an evolutionary niche? – Michael Lipsey

Um...

What is that niche?

Unions work and they know it.

Capitalism and shareholder economics can't function without labor exploitation and surplus value theft.

When workers strike, CEOs learn the lesson to treat workers with respect & pay them.

This is only right.

How is it that only right it's so difficult?

"Stop assuming your kids are straight." That's a really damn good one. Wow. "Coming out" wouldn't have to be a thing if that was happening.

I hate my parents for their ignorance and lack of allyship. I hate them even more for not changing in the face of new information. I hate them the most for refusing to see me for who I am, and how I see myself.

But I must find peace with this anyway.

I am really struggling with that part. Still.
