  • I’ve watched this first ep like three times and it took me until now to realize Michael is probably named after the show creator lmao
  • “One of the other people in your neighbourhood is your actual soulmate, and you will spend eternity together.” I just noticed Eleanor turning around and checking out Jianyu 
  • What happens if you were already married to your soulmate? Do they have a separate afterlife for singles 
  • “Why does she still have that accent? No one else here has an accent.” Chidi’s accent should definitely sound more Senegalese or at the very least have the tinge of a Francophone if there’s any accent retention after-death

the idea that your friends won't like you if you're too weird is wrong for example one time I told a friend whenever I was losing my mind I laid down on the floor under my desk and stared at it until I was better and next time she visited me she taped a bag of salami snacks to the underside of my desk with a message saying "going insane all by yourself, handsome?" which I only saw months later when I had a breakdown. that's friendship.

  • “You’re not She-ra anymore, remember?” Unlike Bow, Adora is not adjusted to fighting without her powers LOL
  • You know, it didn’t really occur to me to question it until now but why do only five of the princesses have runestones? Spinerella and Netossa are princesses but they don’t get to be part of the balance of planet LOL

Unpopular opinion: The Swan Princess is actually one of the best love stories of its genre.

  • Derek and Odette get to know each other over a period of years, rather than days. Though they’re very unenthusiastic about spending time together, by the time they’re teenagers they start hanging out, playing cards and “playing dress-up”
  • The story deconstructs the “love at a glance” trope. Though Derek and Odette both acknowledge their feelings at a glance, when Derek is too taken aback at Odette’s beauty to list anything else he likes about her, she refuses his marriage offer
  • But Derek does love her for more than her beauty, he’s just unable to communicate how he feels. Take his conversation with Rogers. “You must see something other than Odette’s beauty.” Derek’s response, with complete sincerity is, “Of course I do. She’s like… you know. How about… And then… I mean, right?” And he looks at Rogers like he should know exactly what that means. When that elicits no response, he says, “I don’t know how to say it.”
  • For her part, Odette already loves Derek as a person. She doesn’t hesitate about who falls under the “man she loves” factor of her curse. Her doubts, by her own words, are about his immaturity
  • And when Odette is about to die, Derek tells her, “I love you… your kindness and courage. I always have.” That’s the vow Odette wakes up to. Derek finally articulating exactly why he cares
  • They love each other so much they sneak away from their own wedding party. What kind of royalty does that? I love them and their love
#u know what. i'm back on this#derek learning to voice what exactly he loves about odette is the ENTIRE point of the movie#also. i know they're little but 'this is my idea' is still SO endearing to me#when they're in mid-teens and both spending the winter reading#and when they do see each other. they choose to do activities together#and bromley points out that derek likes odette even as she's beating him at cards and reciprocally pelting him w tomatoes#and like. that exchange w derek saying 'what else is there' was dumb and he doesn't know how to explain how he feels happens the SAME DAY#u think he only cares about her looks. he loved her when she was a BIRD#he was making his entire ball swan themed!!!! what more does he have to do#'would u feed this to a swan' still kills me. honestly. overthrow the monarchy#also odette saying she 'sees inside him and her doubts are gone'#they are both irrepressibly rowdy. love each other. and just don't like being told what to do#LOL#princess odette#prince derek#swan princess#films
