I would have been such a faggy lil caveboy, they'd be like "grug come learn hunt and throw spear now" and id be like waaaa no let me pick berry with old gran. I'm the best berrypicker and all the elders love me and are soso sad seeing me cry getting dragged off to do hunting.

At dark around the fire, uup the wise would say some shit like "different flower bloom different way, let grug bloom" and everyone would be like "aaaaaa thog see now, thank you uup the wise." so next day im allowed to pick berry and seed with old gran again and she lets me eat the juiciest ones (o^-^o)

So I found this CD on the street today on my way to work, right? So I decided I’d bring it home and listen to it.

And it was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.

LOL at all the people comparing this to ‘80s / ‘90s anime openings. My dad, who grew up Orthodox Jewish, flipped his shit when he heard the battle theme for Final Fantasy VI because it resembled Hasidic music. What is even going on, Japan?

Well this is kind of a revelation. This missing half of the equation.

Prog Rock + Hasidic tunes = 90s JRPG battle music.

OK but this post led me down a rabbit hole and I learned Hasidic music is really popular in Japan so I doubt any similarities to game / anime music is a coincidence. Holy shit u guys.

i’m glad this has resurfaced w/ v interesting commentary!

World heritage post?

I got an extension called DeArrow that replaces Youtube thumbnails/titles with crowdsourced ones to make them less clickbaity and obnoxious. If there isn't one available I set it to just grab a random frame and remove ALL CAPS!!!.

Here's some comparisons (Original on the left, DeArrow on the right):

my head is hurting from this Facebook post does no one understand Hendrix played a distorted version of Star Spangled Banner to protest the Vietnam War and not as some act of great patriotism, it’s like the boomers who lived through this event rewrote the history and purpose of Woodstock to fit with their nationalism, the 1960s saw some of the worst acts of American imperialism and racism....these “hippies” were not just anti-establishment, they wanted civil rights and they wanted America to stop killing people in east Asia simply because they were a threat to American wealth

not only was it distorted, he played his guitar in such a way that it sounded like bombs, missiles, and gunfire. the music wailed and screamed with anguish. it was meant to express the horrors of the vietnam war in the most raw way possible. take a listen, it’s really an amazing piece of art and should in no way be erased to further fascist rhetoric!

Also, around the 2:33 mark, he plays the opening notes to Taps, a song typically reserved for funerals of dead soldiers and the like.

WASHINGTON—Analyzing the mistakes OceanGate made that led to the vessel’s disappearance, critics told reporters Thursday that the submersible should have been tested with poorer passengers first. “The company skipped the very crucial step of sending five lower-class people to the bottom of the ocean to make sure it was safe enough for the wealthy,” said Otto Scofield, a member of the Marine Technology Society, adding that no one with a net worth above $50,000 should have been in the submersible
