A week of exploring cinematic concepts for my potterbyblvnk sketches. With the help of you guys, I decided to call this series “potterframes”.

I want to show you in details, colors and atmosphere, how I imagine the story of Harry Potter beyond my sketches. My goal is to create believable “movie” scene. I know we already have the movies, but there’s a lot we can explore, especially after growing up.

I might have a lot of fun designing the dark side of the story this time, with a bit of light for a contrast, of course.

broke: clarisse and her sisters are described as ugly and unattractive because they’re brutish and masculine

woke: the reason they’re physically unattractive isn’t because of the stereotype that masculine women are unattractive, but because war is ugly and they are the children of the literal personification of war

With Aphrodite, their natures balance out and their kids end up fine for the most part, and each kid’s own divine nature influences their own appearace.

With mortals, Ares’s nature just. Takes over. Even if his glamour and mortal face is attractive, even if his partner is attractive, his very essence is not.

OK not to get combative on main, but this aspect of Rick’s writing gets to me and I’ll explain why. 

Ares and Athena both are war gods, so if the “War is Ugly” thing were true then Annabeth should be ‘ugly’ too. Ares always gets a bad reputation in modern lit because most of our sources come from Athens (hint hint they had some very biased opinions). In the mythology, Ares is the emotion of war and the force of war. Yes that includes your typical bloodlust, but it is also the love you feel for your comrades, the people you fight for back home, the reason why you fight. The force of war is not just the strength to kill your enemy, but it is the moral fortitude to go to the fight anyway when the fight must happen. 

Ares is also a low-key god of justice IMHO because he murdered the son of Poseidon who r*ped his daughter and was later found not-guilty by the first trial ever. He’s also the most handsome god of them all.

Aphrodite is also more than just “im pretty and petty and feed off drama uwu” but that’s a conversation for another day.

THIS is part of why I think Claresse actually may have grown more attractive as she got older. Because she wasn’t just being this rage monster anymore, she was being a dedicated general/hero in her own right. Frank wasn’t that ugly himself, he was apparently this big panda of a kid.

I think their Emotional states have an effect on how they are precieved by others. Frank was more level headed and kind, so his appearance matched this (I know he’s a shape shifter, but he turns into animals not people). Clarisse meanwhile used to be this mean, cruel bully…so her appearance matched the appearance of someone who was brutal and aggressive above all else. When she became more of a leader in her own right, her own inherent goodness and blah-blah actually allows her to show her true self; she’s not inherently unattractive, it’s her personality that made her ugly.

there’s also how Athena is seen primarily as a Wisdom goddess, and that of architecture and useful arts- creative aspects- while Are is know primarily as a War god. The perception matters, because perception is what shapes the gods.

So Athena has the benefit of being associated with the beauty of creation, while Ares is associated with the ugliness of war

If you’re seeing several people at the same time, tell them.

If you’re looking for sex rather than dating, tell the person you’re seeing.

It is not difficult to be a decent and honest, open, communicative human being. Respect those whom you interact with and have relationships with by telling the truth instead of leading them on or being deceitful.
