Prof Peach and Co care for pokemon --- PATREON --- WEBSITE ---

PREFACE

the blog is run based more on the manga than games, as the game mechanics don't suit real life. The principal here is to rationalise and use logic and sometimes real life facts to make the pokemon world seem very real and even more amazing than it already is! We have a Patreon for those who would like to support more work being made, and a website dedicated to hosting the full comics.

--------------------------------------------

WHAT WE DO

Our work centralises on grass pokemon, their care, their health, and the general relationships we share with them. many are responsible for the health of the ecosystem, and provide valuable nutrition and support to not only the plants but pokemon they live near.

Though we focus the study aspects of our work on grass types, each of the staff have different areas of expertise, and we often handle very difficult, or "last chance" pokemon that are far too aggressive, damaged, or difficult for the average handler.

Our lab handles all sorts, and offers a multitude of events for the public to partake in. The care facilities here match any pokecentre you may come across, with available rooms for short stay rental, along with rental tents for those who want to camp out in the grounds at designated locations.

We also rehabilitate and rehome many species, should both parties be interested in the partnership, with many open days to come visit, and flexible personal visits should the open days be inconvenient.

All public locations are signposted, pokemon guides frequent most locations should you become lost, and you're free to wander the grounds in your own time, so long as you don't go to the north side.

I would like to revisit one of my previous asks now that they're married. Have they said "Love" to each other yet? and if so what where the circumstances? how did the other(s) react?

Avatar

Oh damn yeah they said that a WHILE back now.

Admittedly the trio are very private, Peach doesnt do PDA much, doesnt like people noseying in on her life, so many staff didnt realise for a long time that that'd become really official.

Very much others found out because of a slip of the tongue in a staff room. Plum and Peach just in there getting coffee, nothing lovey dovey, but Peach handed the ranger her drink and Plum was typing on a laptop at a communal desk and didnt think first, saying out loud "Thanks Babygirl" or something equally dumb, and the WHOLE staff room just looked at them both, Peach froze up, Plum realised the mistake a second too late. The questions came soon after, to which the Prof was quick to dodge and run from. Poor Plum had to handle that one, it was her mistake. Staff utterly living after the whole 'those two hate eachother with the fire of a thousand suns' energy they originally had going on. The rivalry eased off, now they get why. Only Theo knew the truth, and kept the secret.

Peach and Grey said they love eachother a long time ago, but the girls were more recent. Took an angry Tyranitar and Plum needing stitches for Peach to say it. long story short, they argued, Plum ran off crying, Peach felt bad, went after her, ended up in the North side, a mean mon was handled but it had clipped Plum. Peach carries her home, puts her Doctor hat on, mind you Plum HATES needles and blood and just all that, so it was...long winded to sew her arm back up with how much she was being whiny about it. But the ranger did good, Peach said sorry, only gets so riled up because shes nervous about stuff, bad gut reaction, she's trying to fix it, takes time. But let slip the 'I only do it because I love you so much you little shit.' which turned into plum teasing and peach getting all coy about it. Very cutsey moment with the ranger up on the kitchen counter, so distracted from her arm, finding this all very sweet.

Grey and peach said it way back in their early 20s, after a quite long shift in the labs after an emergency with several severly injured mons sent their way, a dozen surgeries, a bunch of chaos and a mid-way breakdown later, realising they had each others backs through thick and thin. Grey said it first, peach couldnt deny it.

Extremely confused migrating pokemon who only see the island once a year like wait. I thought plum and peach annoyed each other.

Slightly wiser migrating pokemon like why would that prevent this outcome.

Avatar

They actually annoy eachother more, it's just lined with adoration now, instead of deep seated denial stemming from their ranger days.

I feel like the pokemon saw it coming before the girls did. Grey defo spotted that instantly.

Every so often i'll see an old comment or post and reliase its not public knowledge, Peach, Grey, and Plum are married now, have been for a while, that just kind of happened quietly behind closed doors as far as staff were concerned. They were private about it.

Very funny as the creator to see people unaware of this, so. Happy update to those who dont know.

They all live in one house and had a quiet little ceremony between them and a select few about the whole affair.

edit: found the doodle of the outfits.

Do you have a suggestion on a grass type for someone who just found out they are allergic to everything outside?

Cause um... I'm allergic to everything except pine and cedar and I love my well rounded team idea.

Avatar

Try a Rotom Mow form, this may give your team adaptability too if youre fussed about balance and stats, or maybe a Bramblin and its evolution.

Neither produce pollen of any kind, and shouldn't cause issue for allergies of that nature.

I'd say try Snover but honestly they too have pollen that may become an issue, I guess you could always volenteer with some to just...be around them and see if it sets you off or not? A thought.

I'm laughing way too hard at the idea of this creepy looking Magikarp slash Garydos just staring at Peach from a tank as she moves around the room and his nonexistent eyes follow her.

Avatar

Rift is...an aquired taste for her. She's come to love it, but...only just, so long as she doesnt have to get in the water with it.

Harley (cubone) being stroppy as per usual does not phase her though.

(its odd drawing old professors, peach has so many scars now, and different hair, really had to roll back the clock for this one)

What's a happy adoption story that's occurred on the island? Conversely, what's one of the worst adoption attempts seen?

Avatar

All adoption stories have a lot of joy in them for us at Dotaku, but I suppose one or two stand out.

We had a seemingly lost and quite old Mawile handed in to us, clear care put into their lifestyle, it's teeth were in good condition for its age, it had no illness, clear and soft skin, creeping joint aches but it was to be expected for the pokemon age, but it had no pokeball, so no trainer ID to return them to.

We expected someone to come for it, we even put out posters on the mainland to help find its trainer, but no one came forward. We eventually posed the topic of rehoming to the pokemon and it firmly refused, we did not bring it up again. This pokemon would sit every time people came off the boats at the dock as if waiting for someone, and each time would walk away dissapointed.

Five years passed, it had never given us trouble, was well behaved and kind in nature, even partook in plnety of island events with time, became one of the permanent fixtures here.

And then out of the blue, an old woman turned up with her grandson, visitors. We were made aware of the dimensia she was living with just in case she wandered off, and catered to it no problem. Staff report that she walked around without issue, enjoyed the grounds just line anyone else, until that is, she spotted this one Mawile, and the pokemon saw her, the two had a moment of recognition.

Theyre both in tears as soon as they reach eachother, the Mawile ran for this woman, we didnt know if it was hostile or not at first, but nope, there as a big hug shared and progressive tears. The grandson filled us in that his grandma use to have a partner but came from a village that just lived with pokemon, no balls, no fancy items, just a mutual choosing. But the Mawile had been stolen by a young trainer passing through years ago, with no pokeballs to stop the capture process, the boy assumed someone caught the pokemon and left with it, seperating the pair. It was kind of the one thing his Grandma would always look for in her later years, forgetting that she'd lost her beloved partner, becoming increasingly worried repeatedly as her illness worsened over the years. It caused a lot of grief.

we can only assume the pokemon got free or released, and was handed in to the island as a "difficult case" due to its reluctance to listen to others.

The woman went home with her pokemon, reunited after 5 long years apart, it brought a tear to plenty of the staff's eyes thats for sure.

On the opposing end we've had plenty of shady folk come in and try to adopt from us, but theres a few measures we put in place when were suspicious. I dont discuss the security precautions we apply in these cases to hide the pricess and keep the pokemon and staff safe here.

Despite this, one or two slip the net on rare occasion, it happens, were not perfect. One that stays with me was a woman who came in to look for a partner, making all the best attempts to charm a quite fantastic little Treeko, a rare variant with fantastic leopard markings. She was forthright and seemed ordinary, we went through our regular security checks and nothing came up on her ID, figured it was a fine match. So she went through the process of adopting, staff saw no red flags. I kick myself now, if i'd been around her with Val we could have stopped this, but i'd been too busy with other jobs to oversee that particular case.

She leaves with the pokemon, and we're none the wiser, but anyone who knows us, knows we do home visits after adoption to make sure a pokemon is happy and well. usually 3 within the year. Some of our staff turn up to an abandoned building, no pokemon, no people, nothing. The hunt began, Grey was quick to try to see if the pokemons ID had been pinged at any pokecentres, but nothing came up. We kept looking, and called in some favours at the local ranger bases and police stations to watch.

Eventually someone spots the woman in question, two regions over in Hoenn, selling eggs. She got pulled over for trafic violations while driving and got flagged. I went over personally to see what was going on, and turns out she was illegally breeding rare species to sell for huge money. The treeko was in BAD condition by this point, we took it back along with two dozen or so eggs, another Sceptile, and a pair of shroomish with unsual patterns that were on their last legs. She was taken to court for cruelty charges and served time.

The pokemon however were fine in the end, took some time to rehabilitate them, but they still hang around the island, that experience was traumatic for them so they choose to stay with us for saftey sake. We have no issues with this, and have since tightened our security checks. The womans trainer ID was a fake, a really convincing one, we messed up. It's cases like that that'll push us to all do better however, we learned a lot, and hold onto those failures to push forward in a better way.

Just glad the pokemon survived and are now healthy and happy.

Hey I've just moved from a small town with plenty of wild water and grass type Pokemon around to a city with... pidove I was wondering what kind of companion could you recommend someone in my spot

Avatar

This all depends on your age, your level of skill, your job, your space at home, how much disposable income you have, what you like doing, and what will eventually choose you too.

I suppose just keep an open mind and start small and easy. I don't know what kinds of water or grass types you have around you but seems like you at least have a list to pick from as it stands. Partnering with pokemon that are happy in your local environment usually helps make care easier.

If its your first pokemon, pick somethign common and simple, normal types are often a fine place to begin but if thats not possible, a grass type is often easy enough, just dot go for like...a petili or something, theyre notoriously difficult to care for.

If you have experience then you could go for something further afield or maybe even already evolved.

The important thing is making friends, so do what you love doing and see what comes to you. If a pokemon likes your energy they'll stick around, if they dont, no use in forcing a match.

Have you had any encounters/experiences with Virizion? I've heard they've had bad experiences with humans in the past, but curious how they react to the lab or gardens, or if they keep their distance?

Other than the rare sighting of one Raikou on the island, and the passing of the occasional Zapdos if we're unlucky, no legends or myths make their way to the Island thankfully.

We do not focus our interests on them, and are more than happy not having them around. Such powerful and difficult individuals bring a lot of troube with them more often than not, which endangers our staff and the patients here.

Never met one, never plan to, rather steer clear of that category of pokemon completly. Even a tiny Shaymin can kill on reaction if wanted. Best thing for us to do is to give them a lot of space and stay away unless theres no other option at all.

@wickedcr0w bought a LONG cacnea, and also its evo. I had to take it down a desert ent route.

Its flowers open when rains on the way, and its cloak shields it from sandstorms, making it very adapted. It stands at like 8ft tall and is known as the ranchers ally, overseeing herds and farms if befriended. They scare most foe off with their unnerving glare, but arent all that menacing once you get to know them.

@kingcarthur asked for a bird fusion.

I like to think they steal lightening rods and when struck, take damage but get substantial speed and sp.Attack boosts.

comms for these still open, all i need is £25 and a refrence image from a fusion generator, or even something youve drawn! Maybe I take liberties, maybe I dont, its the risk taken.
