Taiwan Becomes First Country In Asia to Legalize Same-Sex Marriage

In a vote on Friday, May 17, Taiwan parliament legalized same-sex marriage, becoming the first country in Asia to do so.

This is only a week before the Parliament was to hit the deadline of May 24 set in 2017 after the constitutional court ruled that same-sex couple had the right to legally marry. 

Following years of campaigning by LGBT+ groups for equal marriage rights, hundreds swarmed the parliament building on Friday as the debate was held. Three bills were debated but last-minute attempts by conservatives to pass a watered-down “civil union” laws with not adoption rights were rejected.

In the end, the most progressive one was chosen which allowed couples to form “exclusive permanent unions” and apply for “marriage registrations.” However, this bill was not perfect, as it provides only limited adoption rights and draws some distinctions between heterosexual marriage, such as the inability to marry a foreigner if same-sex marriage is not legal in their country. Yet this is still be hailed by LGBTQ+ advocate as a momentous victory.

This landmark ruling will be implemented on May 24th and is bound to spread hope in Asia’s growing LGBT+ movements.

Wolves React To Gamekeeper Who Had Been Away On Maternity Leave

“WHERE’S YOUR PUPPY! WE WANNA SEE YOUR PUPPY! DID YOU JUST HAVE THE ONE? DO YOU HAVE THEM WITH YOU? ARE THERE PHOTOS?”

I’m not a hundred percent positive but I’m pretty sure this is the wild life center where I visited wolves.

And the safety briefing included the question “So if you’re pregnant, do you want to know or not?”

Turns out there had been a bit of an awkward situation once where the keepers had casually mentioned a woman’s pregnancy in a group, and she herself didn’t even know yet. Turns out the wolves are excellent at telling if you’re pregnant and the keepers can tell based on their body language.  They get all odd and careful around pregnancy. (Even wolves knows that you have to take care of pregnant people.)

So they definitely knew she was pregnant.

And if I remember my BBC documentaries right, a wolf will leave the pack to give birth and introduce the cubs to the pack once she feels ready for it. And maternity leave is flexible but often around 6 months so they’re going “YOU WERE GONE FOREVER! WE WERE SO WORRIED! WHERE ARE THE CUBS?? WE HAVE TO GREET THE CUBS!!“ 

Also the two on her back are fighting over who gets to greet her first. Giving and receiving attention is a commodity that goes by hierarchy and if you don’t accept that there will be scuffles.. The wolf lying down next to her isn’t chill about her coming back, it’s just submissive to the other wolves and waiting for it’s turn to show excitement.

Now I can see why we domesticated these adorable jerks.

Wolf packs have maternity leave?

Billie Joe Armstrong literally wrote a song about coming out as bisexual as a teenager, and then like two years later wrote one that was pretty much all about dressing up in drag and getting fucked by/fucking guys, and y'all STILL say he’s a “straight ally” because he married a woman??

The same goes for Freddy Mercury and David Bowie. Both were openly bi. Both wrote (multiple) songs about their queerness. Both are pigeonholed as either “gay” or “straight”. They were both neither of those things.

hey remember when freddy mercury wrote a literal song about wanting to be allowed to be bisexual without it being a big deal and was incredibly obvious about it and then straighties went “oh lol look at how quirky queen is writing a song all about bicycles!”

This also happened to p!nk, she’s openly bisexual but since she’s married to a man and has had two babies with him, people say that she’s straight.

Like, yeah she does a lot and shows a lot of support for the LGBT+ community but she isn’t just an ally, she’s part of that community.

Biphobia is completely real and so many Bi wlw and mlm are assigned the “straight” role when they just ARENT.

You don’t always have to use the same labels all the time. You can be more specific with some people or groups about your identity and more vague with others. You’re orientation can fluctuate or be fluid. You can feel a stronger affinity with some labels some days and not on other days. Whatever the reason it’s fine to not always use the same labels.
