Saw that youre still using google docs and I thought I might as well ask. What your opinion on the whole "empty your google docs and move somewhere else" thing that has been going on since google announced their A.I.? I deleted some stuff like my thesis and some original writing things but my current WIP is still in there and its the most convenient way to share it with my betareader... idk i feel i might be overthinking...? But i also hate the idea of an AI poaching my writing...? Sorry if this is too much I just needed to share with someone who also writes fic. Love your stuff, thank you for sharing so much!!
to be real with you, i wasn't even aware this was a thing until you sent this ask LOL! take everything i say with a grain of salt. i read like... 3 articles to get up to speed
from the sounds of it, as soon as your work is published, it's likely to be exploited by google. if moving your work - especially anything that's confidential or your livelihood - gives you a sense of control over what and when the AI-inclined get their nasty hands on your work, make that decision. personally, the inevitability of it and the fact that my work is neither confidential nor my livelihood, i'm going to continue using google docs. if it was my art (which IS my livelihood), it'd be a different story. (for example, LOVE the development of glaze, which encodes your art in a way that if an AI adds it to their pool, it becomes incomprehensible gibberish and fucks with their models)
i do hate the idea of my work being exploited by AI. but there's not a lot individually that i can do about it. my solution to that is to be firmly in favour of pushing for laws to regulate AI, which I feel is going to help more in the long-term. i hope this doesn't sound defeatist because i am fully in support of fucking with AI's data pools. just in this particular instance, i feel like fic writers moving their offline is not going to do much, given the relative wealth of other things google's AI will mine from.

BIG DISHONORABLE MENTION FOR THIS WORD CHOICE. Zoro does not call Nami a “scheming woman.” What is with the translators making Zoro into a complete hater towards Nami?? Vivi says she can’t understand what Miss All Sunday is thinking, and Zoro replies “we’ve already got that type of person on this ship.” He never said anything about women at all! If you think of someone on the ship whose thought process is completely incomprehensible…
