I like many movies from the seventies, especially films where “boring” guys solve mysteries and go a bit crazy, reflecting the instability and paranoia of the times (All The President’s Men, The Conversation, Apocalypse Now, Jaws…). So here’s Luke and Din getting to the bottom of it.

"Has anyone told you that you're really beautiful?"

Din averts his gaze, his cheeks heating up under his helmet – a gesture that unmasks his inner world immediately. Luke lets out a small laugh, benevolent.

"No, I'm serious. Beautiful. And handsome. And", Luke continues hands on the balcony rail, daringly puffing his chest out to touch Din's breastplate lightly, "may I say. Hot."

Din's face is on fire. He coughs out a laugh, not believing his luck. This marriage, arranged between ancient enemy clans to restore final peace between their houses, was supposed to be the end of his life. Now it seems like he's just stepped to the actual life he was supposed to be living in the first place. The pieces fell on their places when they looked at each other across the room for the first time, and there was no going back to the world where those pieces didn't even exist. The man pulls him in with a simple gaze, a warm smile. Luke tilts his head, forehead just an inch away from Din's.

There's nothing to lose. Din's mind goes blank. His hands are suddenly not shaking anymore when he lifts his arm and gently places his hand to rest on the last Jedi's waist. Luke leans in immediately, slowly, like dancing.

"I want to know you", Din says, his gaze jumping between Luke's mouth and eyes. Luke lifts his hand on the side of Din's helmet, still smiling, about to dive into the unknown.

"I want to know you, too."
