โYou simply cannot fit more America into a single incident than a man dying a horrifying death in protest of war crimes while a first responder screams at cops to stop pointing their guns at him and go get fire extinguishers. If you were to pick a single moment in history to sum up the essence and expression of the US empire, that would be it.โ
Caitlin Johnstone, The Most American Thing That Has Ever Happened
Being loved after years of being unloved is such a surreal experience. Iโm going to be less active on this site for a while because of the transphobia but I wanted to leave yโall with that message. Regardless of what you were told or what you were made to believe, you are lovable and when you find it that love will be unimaginably better than the resentful tolerance youโre living with now. Stay safe out there, maybe Iโll see yโall soon maybe not.
So are we getting off tumblr because the owner is violently transphobic or whatโs up?
today was single handedly the best day of my life. i caught a cop stealing from the store i work at
literally watched him slide a candy bar into his sleeve and i literally felt like i was on top of the world. i felt like i could throw a car over my head. he walked around the store for a bit after that looking to see if we have any locally made pickles and then when he couldnt find any he was about to leave and im like ^__^ have a good night, are you going to pay for the candy bar you stole :3? and then i got to watch a grown ass pig shyly walk up to the counter to pay kinda just awkwardly laughing about it and was like "whoops forgot about it haha...." and then left without another word. this opportunity will never happen ever again. being able to tell a cop that he needs to pay for a candy bar he attempted to steal makes me feel incredibly powerful
carrot feast
I couldnโt be happier. I love life. Being with someone who you you love and who loves you is so magical. I want to burst from joy
Andreea Kindryd was a production assistant on the original Star Trek back in the 1960s, and was heavily involved in the civil rights movement alongside Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. She became one of the first Black women movie/TV producers, and was friends with Octavia Butler. She's written a memoir called From Slavery to the Stars that just came out, and it's well worth picking up. Please show her some love!

Jess Bush as Christine Chapel โ Star Trek | Under the Cloak of War
Words cannot describe how much I wish I was as smart or strong or dedicated or talented as Christine Chapel. I idolize her.

some notable catchphrases of 2013:
crazy that in the 1970s they were like, "fine, women can play sports. but because they're innately less athletic than men, only in a special ghettoized League For The Frail And Delicate where they get paid less ๐". And not only is that still the system in 2023, but viciously lashing out at the smallest challenges to that system gets framed as Feminist Praxis
even setting aside the fact that gendered bodytype averages aren't universals, and plenty of individual (cis) women and (cis) men could easily go to toe to toe. have we considered that the fact that all the most prominent and well-paid sports are ones that require things like Being Tall and Having Muscle Mass, as opposed to, ex, gymnastics...is itself an artifact of sexism
also to people who are like "well do you think WOMEN should be playing AMERICAN FOOTBALL against MEN" actually I don't think anyone should be playing american football on account of, you know, the irreversible brain damage.
I think it's silly that the star trek future is still so same-with-same when it comes to alien species. I think a Klingon vessel should comm the enterprise and a random Human ensign should go "Oh my god wait are you from the House of Ragh-Tul? No way! That's my cousin's house!" because they recognize the dialect. Like, we're all neighbors in the universe. That Vulcan is your primary school teacher's daughter. You're an Andorian but you have a Betazoid name because your dad thought it sounded pretty. This random alien knows how to make kimchi without ever having seen a Human because the recipe was part of a trade made decades ago. C'mon man, love thy neighbor with your whole heart!
I'll never get tired of drawing disgruntled awoos.
