its the fact that. scout knows. he knows spy is his father. everyone knows spy is his father. spy knows scout knows. and scout knows that spy knows he knows.
its the vicious cycle where they know each other in a way cars going to the same destination for miles know one another on the highway: i see your path but not your plan, i know your vehicle but not what drives you. i only see you as youre running away from me.
spy knows scouts face gets red when he cries, same as when he was a newborn. he knows how scout got the scar on his foot after accidentally stepping on glass as a baby. he sees his own fathers jaw shape in scout.
and it drives scout fucking crazy that he cannot unburden this from himself, it is a link he cannot break. even after all these years his father is affecting him and everyday he has to see him. a part of him wonders what part of him made spy walk away. if he had it then, does he have it now?
