make plausible-sounding reports for things that don’t actually exist, so that they actually have to waste time/resources investigating false leads - the goal is to waste time they would otherwise be using to do their jobs, not to get tumblr clout for being an epic troll

So apparently the internet article said the superintendent wouldn't be deterred by the prank calls because they would 'taper off eventually'. It'd be a real shame if this post stayed in circulation via queues so they get a consistent list of prank calls to filter through. 😇

ok so imagine there’s a rope wrapped around this pole here like so

and imagine there’s, let’s say, a horse tied to the left end of that rope, and the horse is trying to pull away, but there’s a resisting force on the right. there’s friction between the rope and the pole, also resisting the horses pull. up to a certain point, the horse pulling will make the rope simply slip off the pole, cause the resisting forces just ain’t enough, cause it’s a horse. however, every time you wrap the rope fully around the pole, the force that would need to be applied to the other end of the rope to keep the horse attached decreases EXPONENTIALLY.
