Can’t risk it
The duck of creativity. I waited so long for it.
Please I’m running low on juice
You don't have to force yourself to bounce back so quickly. I read something recently that said "when you come in from a rainstorm, you don't expect yourself to be dry and warm right away", and it really resonated with me. It's okay to take time to dry off and warm up. Take the time you need to process what happened to you.
2x20 Dean realizes that he is trapped in a dream. vs. his dream family pleads him to stay with them. vs. Dean after waking up.
4x17 Zachariah wakes up Dean from a terrible corporate life.
4x22 Dean before and after realizing that the angels want the Apocalypse to happen.
15x20 Dean about to eat a pie. vs. Dean in heaven.
supernatural be like “we will use warm and saturated colors to accent fake happiness" and then I’m supposed to believe that this is a real happy ending?

Anybody who says Katniss was bullied into marriage and having children either, A.) Doesn't know Katniss Everdeen, and therefore did NOT read the books, or B.) They have completely misinterpreted the entire message of The Hunger Games series and are incapable of seeing the bigger picture.
Which is that Katniss never wanted to be anything more than free. She just wanted to take care of her family and live her life freely. All these people harping on her for getting married and having babies forget that Katniss made her vow not to marry as a reaction to her father's death and her mother's abandonment.
That decision and almost all of her subsequent decisions in the books up until the end of Mockingjay regarding love and marriage revolve around fear.
The message of the Hunger Games when it comes to love is not that there is nothing to fear about falling in love or getting attached to people. All through the series its proved time and again that love and emotional attachment is costly. Because everytime Katniss allows herself to get close to someone they get hurt.
But what Katniss learns is that love and caring for others cannot be avoided completely. It's part of the human experience that cannot be denied unless you want to end up like President Snow, emotionally dead inside, caring only about yourself and what people can do for you. And avoiding/running away from human connection is often just as painful as losing it. And it is detrimental to people.
Katniss loses her sister in the war and almost loses herself because feels she failed at protecting the people she cared for. Everyone from Prim, to Rue, to Cinna, Squad 451, Finnick, and Peeta. She is barely alive and barely hanging onto her sanity after the war.
The thing that brings her back to life is Peeta moving back to District 12. His return is the sign that she can rebuild her life after losing nearly everything.
Because Peeta too, lost nearly everything including his own mind. But he fought hard to reclaim his memories and his mental health. He helps Katniss recover from the mental and emotional toll the war and everything that came before.
Because at the foundation of their relationship is their enduring promise to keep each other alive, to protect each other, and it goes so much deeper than romance or sex and whatnot.
They've been through hell and back many times and know each other inside out. When they fall back in love it's not because they feel pressured, but because they finally feel free to do so. It's just them and Haymitch in the Victors village and they know they don't have to put on an act for him, or anyone really.
Their relationship is finally allowed to take it's natural course, which Katniss clearly states was inevitable.
This would have happened anyway people.
And when she decides to have children she is afraid at first. From personal experience I can tell you it's terrifying, the idea of bringing new life into the world. It's a feeling of responsibility that never gets easier or ever really goes away. But the joy of allowing yourself to love and be loved in return is incomparable.
Not every heroine needs to get married and have babies, I will admit. But for Katniss it closes out her character arc perfectly.
She fights so hard, and loses so much, but ultimately rebuilds and faces her deepest fears. She doesn't let her loses define her. She believes her life can be good again. And then she makes it good again. One day at a time.
Which is a lesson to all of us about the endurance of the human spirit and about how female characters are allowed to find happiness and contentment in whatever form they chose. Flower dresses and chubby newborns and all.
Things that make me love Dean Winchester so much and wonder how he is not everyone’s favourite character
- He takes care of and is always kind to every kid he comes across (Lucas in Dead in the Water, Cole in Death Takes A Holiday, Katie in Swap Meat, Tyler in Plucky Pennywhistle’s Magical Menagerie, Timmy in Bad Boys, not to mention the big examples like Ben, Krissy, Claire)
- He always tries to warn about and persuade people away from hunting for their sakes
- All he wants to do is just. Save people. All of them
- He only started outwardly caring about him going to hell and being tortured forever at the possibility of becoming someone who hurts others himself
- He taught an angel love and free will by exemplifying those things himself
- He made a friend in Purgatory
- He goaded Eve Mother of Monsters into accidentally killing herself
- He reverse-possessed an archangel and trapped him in his mind
- He got thee Death to give him his scythe and his ring (twice)
- He then took off Death’s ring, even though he knew it meant his deal with Death was off, to try to save someone
- He wanted to use the Hand of God to save the people on the wartime vessel despite having known them for approximately half an hour
- Punched god
- He told Bobby “What I do have is a GED and a give-em-hell attitude and I’ll figure it out” and didn’t even believe what he was saying
- Desperate and beaten-down and backed into a corner he gave Sam a wink, looked Zachariah in the eye and stabbed him in the face
- He crashed the apocalypse, featuring two archangels wearing his younger brothers’ faces, with Rock of Ages as his soundtrack and was ultimately the reason the world got saved
- He literally just wants to go to the beach with his family. He wants to run a little bar called Rocky’s. He wants to mow the lawn. He wants the freedom to have peace.
- He cooks for his loved ones he literally cooks for his loved ones
- He smiles so brightly
- HE WUVS HUGS he literally will just hug people and cup their faces he is so affectionate
- He goes all soft during one-night-stands and looks reverently at whoever he’s with
- He takes ownership of every decision he makes
- He couldn’t bring himself to murder an innocent woman even as a demon
- He convinced Cole who was actively holding a gun on him at the time to let go of his years-long murderous revenge quest against him with nothing but his words
- Literally under the influence of The-Curse-Of-Killing-Your-Brother, with Sam looking at him and assuring him he wouldn’t hate Dean, and Death behind him assuring him it was the right thing to do, he still couldn’t bring himself to do do it
- Same with Jack, who agreed Dean shooting him would be for the best, who was a danger to the world and who Dean was furious at for having killed Mary, even after Chuck promised to “give her back”- he still didn’t do it, couldn’t do it
- He cried for the suffering of all of humanity when he met god
- He saved the world with compassion, literally saved it just by reaching out to Amara
- He said yes to Michael for love
- When Jack had a nightmare he didn’t give him a .45. He told him he has them as well and reassured him
- He named the dog miracle!!!
- When offered a favour by Death he didn’t bargain for his own life, or the lives of the people he was grieving, he just asked her to release the ghosts of the haunted house he’d been investigating
- He asked Chuck to bring back the birds. I don’t know why this one gets me so much but he.
- He is humanity he is love he is free will, because all of those things are connected, and all of those things are embodied in him
I do not respect the grind. Go to bed
The term and concept of "rent lowering gunshots" has seeped into my mental vocabulary, and I've welcomed it there. Something I'm up to is gross and weird? Good, keeps the rent low. Keeps judgy people out. Post weird shit on your blog, do weird shit to your hair, be as fucky as your heart ever wants to be. If you're not the one making the profit, make yourself unprofitable. The aposematism of brightly coloured creatures is there to warn predators, not friends.
You have no moral obligation to make yourself palatable for those who would consume you.

HELLO, THIS
on a similar note
the saga continues!

Wow
When you say the quiet part out loud but you were never quiet about it in a he first place
I don’t think you’re ready to have an adult conversation about politics until you’re able to admit that there are things you love and enjoy that would not and should not exist in a just world. $8 billion dollar budget movies every other month don’t exist in a just world. New 900 GB AAA video games every year don’t exist in a just world. Next day delivery doesn’t exist in a just world. 80 different soda brands don’t exist in a just world.
All of those things come from exploitation on some level, and if you wouldn’t trade those for a world where everyone can eat and have a home no matter who they are or what they do, I don’t know what to tell you.
Man, this post makes me feel conflicted, because on the one hand, of the things listed, next-day delivery is the only one that DOES actually exist in the world today. The others are exaggerations, and while I understand the point being made, they do detract from it.
I understand—and agree with—that sentiment of, “I want slower deliveries by drivers who are paid better,” as one recent tumblr post put it. I absolutely agree with the idea that we need to produce and consume less as a culture, and that an actual substantive conversation about politics should involve willingness to relinquish the many modern luxuries that are built on exploitation.
I don’t think these are good examples of those luxuries, though.
Large budget movies are possible because consumers (and investors) are willing to pay for them. A large budget is actually a necessary component in making sure workers are being adequately compensated; the fact that they currently are often exploited by studios is a result of deliberate misallocation of resources, not anything intrinsic to the size of the production. Same thing goes with high-quality video games. As for releasing a new film/game every month/year, that’s only unsustainable because there’s only a handful of monopolistic studios doing it. In a well-regulated industry that encourages growth and competition, we could see tens, if not hundreds of studios producing big-budget films and games. And, with a well-compensated and socially-supported citizenry, consumers would have enough disposable income to support it.
Similarly, the problem with soda isn’t that we have 80 brands; it’s that we have two. And those two brands each own 800 different labels. In a healthy economy, these monopolies would be dissolved, and we could support well over 80 moderately-sized independent beverage companies producing their own sodas.
Same-day delivery, again, could be easily supported with proper allocation of resources. Currently, we have huge centralized distributors like Amazon exploiting gig-workers with slave-wages to ferry cheap mass-produced crap to people, and that’s what makes it bad, not the speed at which they do it. If instead, we had something like a super-robust USPS, with well-compensated deliverypeople working reasonable hours within a decentralized network of independent-but-cooperative suppliers, there would be absolutely no reason why you couldn’t get something delivered to you from the distro ten miles down the road within a day.
When we critique capitalism, and they respond, “Yeah, well capitalism made the cell phone you’re using!” our response shouldn’t be, “Oh shit u right,” it should be, “No, capitalism made the cell phone I’m using break after a year so I’ll buy a new one, and they use slave labor to do it while they pocket the rest.”
There are luxuries, and there are artificially-valued, mass-produced, built-to-break trash that are marketed as luxuries. But we don’t solve the problems of fast-fashion by saying, “Welp I guess I shouldn’t wear clothes.”
But Katniss’s war and Peeta’s war was never really against the capital or the games. The rebels war was. Gale’s war became that. But Katniss’s And Peeta’s was never really about the government. That’s why Katniss was so confused about what her act of defiance was about—was it love? Was it rebellion against the government? And she can’t sort it out because it was really both and neither and on a level that the outward rebellion completely overlooked. It wasn’t against the games but an act of defiance against the *nature* of the games (which is why it was love and defiance at the same time) not against the capital but against the dehumanizing capital spirit. What Peeta says right at the beginning, about finding a way to show the capital he’s more than just a piece in their games, that’s what the fight is about. It’s about survival but not really just physical survival—it’s about the survival of their spirits, almost of their souls, of existence as human beings. It’s against despair, against fear, against selfishness, against the spirit of the games in which people are expendable pawns better off dead. And the outward rebellion is a distraction, another arena Katniss has to fight her way *out* of, once she realizes what it is, because it’s yet another place of nightmares where people are pawns and tools and used and turned into animals on both sides. Peeta was right about them destroying each other but it was more than just killing bodies it was about twisting and demolishing the *humanity* of people too—the love, the hope, the *life* of each person. That’s what the series frames them as fighting against. It’s an inward battle, not an outward one. Katniss knows this intuitively in the first games, and all through the rest of the books it’s her being tested and twisted and confused until she can finally articulate it to herself. That’s why she spends 70% of Mockingjay in a hospital or closet, not on the field. She thinks she’s supposed to act like the typical YA protagonist, be out there fighting, killing, taking down the government piece by piece, but all along it’s the fight going on inside her that’s the point and focus of the whole story. Its the way the suffering can break her down into a capital pawn or make her see better than anyone else that the enemy is a person too.
When Haymitch tells her in Catching Fire to remember who the enemy is, he’s unintentionally stating the crux of the whole story. The whole story is her figuring out what she figured out in the arena the first time—the obvious enemy is not really her enemy. And in the end she says the enemy is *inside her*. The enemy is the despair that drives you to destroy, both yourself and everyone around you. The hate that turns you *into* your enemy. And that’s why the ultimate solution is so quiet and internal. It’s going home and planting flowers and singing and honoring the ones you loved, and having children who can play on the regrown meadow in spring, and every day playing the game, counting out every good thing you have seen, to not give in to all they tried to make you be, so the darkness doesn’t win, and life can be *lived*. That’s her fight. And in just knowing that, and fighting it, that’s how she wins.

It’s a portal
About to fly to fairytopia and make barbie fall in love with me 💕
homophobes are not allowed to use computers because the inventor of the computer was gay

People think this is just a joke but Alan Turing was the inventor of the computer and his sexuality was illegal in his time (which was not even 100 years ago) and he was arrested. They put him on drugs that destroyed his genius brain and committed suicide a year after being covicted. He was gay and a war hero as well. He helped to break enigma which was a German code that they put all their messages through. He shorted WWII by two years and saved so many lives in the process.
Friendly reminder that if not for Alan Turing you wouldn’t be reading this post and we might be ruled by the nazis
