sometimes you read a translation of an ancient greek play and you come across a line so relatable you just have to contemplate it for a moment

This is actually what motivated the ancient Greeks to invent the li-bra

Goddamnit, why did I have to actually go and do this the minute I read it?

In high school one of the common fund raisers was carnation flowers for a dollar during prom season and valentines and a couple other times of year. And you could “order” flowers to be delivered to kids during their homeroom times so it was always a big deal to get flowers and it was super fun

But one of these fundraisers I had a guy friend who commented he never got any because he was always single or his girlfriend always expected flowers but never gave him any

So my senior year valentines I decided I was going to buy all the guys in my homeroom (which he was in) a carnation and said they were from “Anonymous Girl in your homeroom”

So the day came and all the guys started getting flowers and they all realized they were from the same one girl and all got super excited and giddy and protective of their flowers and all day long I saw the guys in my homeroom wear flowers behind their ears or stuffed in their notebooks and they flaunted them around to other guys that didn’t get flowers. One guy tried to see if it would make his girlfriend jealous. A couple of them tried to play detective to figure it out who it was.

Then the next day apparently they all (or at least most of them) got together and bought all the girls in homeroom a carnation as a thank you to whoever it was so every girl in my homeroom got a bouquet of one from every guy (so it was a bouquet of about a dozen) and every single girl was smiling and happy and bouncy as the guys were the day before

And no one ever knew it was me but I was always super proud of that

would LOVE to see your take on Mercymorn and Augustine........

i just did mercymourn for now. Sometimes you start doodling a character and they have a sort of squishness that makes them fun to draw and you get lost in the sauce for a bit

ID: A group of digital drawings of Mercymourn, a human woman with pale skin, golden eyes, a slight build, and aprocot pink hair in various loose buns. She wears a black top and white scarf loose over he shoulders. From right to left, she is drawn with a causual but still severe facial expression. Top middle, she is smiling with sparkles near her face. Right middle, she is frowning and facing forward. Bottom right, she is turned to the side and looking a bit distraught. End ID.

yellow is generally the population’s least favourite colour which is interesting to me. i have a theory that yellow is generally more appealing to people the Less saturated and deep it is, the more warm and less cool it is, and that faded pale yellow is more pleasing to the eye than mustard. can you all participate in a casual experiment and tag or reply with which shade you like best from this yellow shade chart. i’m hypothesising daffodil will be popular as an answer

Ohhhh butterscotch & fire for me

Being reminded this week that I really am a night owl, on a fundamental level.

Like it’s obvious to everyone that getting up at eight sucks if you went to bed at five.

But I’ve been getting eight hours of sleep every night, and still feeling wiped out.  Getting up before eleven just makes my body sad even if I have been sleeping enough.

god yes, it’s so conspicuous to me how it takes a bunch of work for me to align to a morning schedule but then it takes one or two days to “fall off the wagon”. like the difference between going uphill and downhill

That’s true too, but my point is, like, I’m aligned!  I’m on the wagon!  I have gotten eight hours of sleep three nights in a row, and that almost never happens!  I even woke up on my own this morning with no alarm.

But since those eight hours started at midnight and ended at eight AM, I’m still feeling wiped out all day like I didn’t sleep enough.  Waking up at eight is a problem even if I’ve gotten enough sleep consistently.

Civilization was not developed to [obvious advantage of early civilization]. It is specifically the organizational processes of [marxist gibberish about inequality]. Hope this helps :)

Did I just employ the "Treat Them Like You are A Kindergarten Teacher Again" method with my insurance company today? I surely did. Did it work? Probably better than intended because I made an actual doctor feel contrite.

So, my insurance has been trying to not cover my SNRI because it is new on the market and no generic available yet, so pricey.

I apply for a refill and the request gets locked for review. Again. For the 3rd time.

This time I call and immediately ask to speak to the actual doctor making these clinical decisions. Very politely. Must be a slow day because they allow it.

ME: [Teacher voice] I'm calling in regards to the SNRI you have placed a lock on. Why was this decision made?

DOC: Well, there are dozens of other medications on the market in that tier, and far cheaper for you and [insurer]. We have sent a request to your doctor to consider alternatives.

ME: I am aware of that. So, can you do me a HUGE favor and look up my prescription history really quickly and tell me how many SSRIs and SNRIs were only filled once in 2022 for me, showing they were poorly tolerated?

DOC: It looks like eight.

ME: Great job! Now, can you please look at my genetic test for psychiatric drug tolerance and tell me how many medications are listed in the safe category?

DOC: Two.

ME: Awesome! Now, can you tell me what type that other drug is that I'm not taking?

DOC: Yeah, totally, it's an MAOI.

ME: That's correct, you're really knowledgeable! Should I be taking something as dangerous as an MAOI with my other medications, or even just in general?

DOC: It's contraindicated for sure.

ME: It is! So true! So, last question since you've been incredibly smart and helpful. Is it less expensive for [insurer] to pay out for the medication knowing they already get a huge manufacturer discount anyway, or is it more expensive for them to pay for me to need potentially long-term inpatient psychiatric care?

DOC: I'll clear the code, ma'am and flag it as medically necessary. I'm sorry about this.

ME: I appreciate you SO MUCH. You have a great day now.
