this looks so cool!!!

entoloachado

I love this word, this member on WordReference explains it in the following way:

“Toloache" is the common name given in Mexico to a variety of the "Datura" plant, with strong toxic and hallucinogenic properties. It is used in naturopathic medicine, but especially in witchcraft, it is believed that it has properties that make a person fall in love (or stay in love) with another. It can cause madness and even death.
Carlos Castaneda refers on various occasions to the use of this plant, during his initiation on the mystical path, guided by Don Juan Matus."Entoloachado" alludes to the fact that the person in question received a dose of toloache, and consequently, has gone mad, or something very close.

German students writing in English: I will spent the next 30 minutes trying to find an elegant English equivalent to this very complex German word

German scholars writing in English: *takes the German word, puts it in italics and never explains its meaning because Now you! Anglophone Reader! Are the fucking Moron Who Doesn’t Know what Gleichgewichtsrückverschiebung means! How dare you read my book??*

I’m begging you all to watch this action-comedy series about three vigilante senior citizens trying to bring down a crime lord. It’s full of Chilean humor, socially relevant, and over-the-top ridiculous in all the best ways. 10/10.

Finally listened to all music! My favorite song was an untitled file called “ssssddsdrt66677888.ogg” that I found on a flash drive that I found in a landfill in Tunisia

which is, well, what it says on the tin. Some stuff is free to download, some stuff is available to purchase, some stuff is both.

Just on the first page, we have:

The site started as just a guy digitizing music from cassette tapes that you couldn’t find anywhere outside street markets in various African cities, and now it’s an actual record label that works with African musicians… and also a guy digitizing tapes.

It’s amazing cultural anthropology as well as great music.

there’s also nyege nyege tapes in uganda which holds a festival every year with a lineup of electronic artists from around the continent & the diaspora

then there’s c-drik who runs the syrphe database where he has spent decades working with musicians in africa & asia to give them a presence online & a means of communication with each other & the rest of the world.
