Billionaires should not exist
Billionaires exist and always will. They either make it by revolutionizing the world eg Steve Jobs or Jeff Bezos; or they come from old money which is the foundation of institutional investment capital for growth; or they come from corrupt elitists, mostly in government, that steal the public blind. Putin is likely the richest man in the world.
Personally I would rather encourage the Elon Musks and future Thomas Edison’s of the world then hand it over to corrupt governments. Especially communist elites that have the power to kill to get and protect what they want to steal.
Capitalism sucks. Disparities are inevitably. But the world moves forward in the creation and advancements of visionary thinkers and industrialists. The self betterment drive of the human spirit is freest to be nurtured, grow, and blossom in a free society that includes rewarding those that are most productive.
Unfortunately, governments typically destroy prosperity more than they create it. The human psyche of motivation and innovation are numbed by the government’s desire to control, tax and regulate humanity.
The irony of this response is that these very billionaires and their corporate apparatuses are what corrupt government. That you don’t acknowledge the connection makes your point moot. You don’t have a corrupt government without corrupters. And I promise it isn’t the average working person who is the problem here.
Hi! So I saw you posting about Ecuador and the Yasuní, which is great. But as an Ecuadorian I feel that I need to clarify that sadly the current government said that they are going to ignore it as the majority of people that live in the region near the Yasuní voted for the continuation of oil drilling even though that option had overall the least votes nationwide.
It is awful that such a great thing quickly turned into an L so quickly.
Although, hopefully the next government will do something about it...but that is just a small wish and hope..
Sorry if there are any mistakes, English is not my first language.
Thank you for sharing this context! The important thing is the people are demanding change, and hopefully that translates into how they vote for public officials too!
