I know I haven’t been super active on tumblr in the past few months. But That doesn’t mean I’ve vanished from the internet. I’ve just been doing other things lately. (Is it just me, or did the Pokéganda trend kinda die down a bit?)
One thing I decided to do was create a Zelda server in the hopes of using it to talk to other people about my favorite game franchise. But the server really hasn’t gone anywhere yet. 😅I love to discuss the series and everything about it. But I must admit, I might not be as well versed in the series as some other People.
Y’all wanna know something? I’ve never played Ocarina of Time. And I’ve yet to finish a single 3D zelda. That’s not me trying to get some sick gamer cred, I just didnt have an N64 growing up, I had an NES. While everyone else was playing OOT and Majora’s Mask, My first Zelda Game was the NES original, thanks to my dad. And I consider it the most important game I’ve ever played and it’s up there in my favorites. My favorite Zelda game however, is Link’s Awakening. I LOVE how quirky it is and yet it has a hidden darkness to it that I find appealing. Add that to solid classic Zelda gameplay, a fun fresh tropical setting and Best Girl Marin. (Serious dream gal, that one. XD ) and you have my favorite entry.
That said, I absolutely don’t hate the 3D games and actually have major nostalgic soft spots for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess in particular!
If you’re interested in joining this server and taking about Zelda games (and possibly even a few games like it. I love “clone” games.) send me a message!
And just to cap it off, here’s me being dorky in my zelda hoodie.
I’ll see you there if you want!
I always welcome excuses to draw my characters. But I must admit, I am the most uncreative when it comes to ideas. Still, I try to do at least one holiday themed drawing each season. Last year, I drew Merry in a Bride of Frankenstein inspired costume. And I think it worked great! This year, Kristen got a turn as a witch. A simple costume, yes. But one that fits with her character, since she’s absolutely obsessed with magic, despite not being able to use any herself. And as a bonus, she has a very distinctly colored cat accompanying her.
Might not be Cyndaquil related. But I figure y’all might appreciate a bit of spook from yours truly. And hey, if you dig my art. Feel free to follow my art page. I have a lot of other drawings I wanna share.
Pupluff is hard to hit or pin down, and stands as a superb support choice for Warwolf, even if there are more potent freezing options out there. Warwolf is one of the few characters with Beta you don’t want to replace with something else due to its surprising Speed capabilities and its power-boosting Prestige effect for nearby Ice followers.
Being limited to Slash does hinder Warwolf’s utility somewhat, but the potential for 40 damage a swing isn’t anything to sneeze at.
I’m late to the pokemon Gold Beta bandwagon due to computer problems. But I’m happy I was able to draw some of my and chats’ favorites on stream. Went with Ken Sugimori’s old style.
I love the tiger. I want 57 of em.
Prof.Peach is back at it, this time with Tangela!
Growing them from cuttings is a patient waiting game, but worth it, as you get a chance to see a new species that is bypassed when hatching eggs!
I completely forgot I reblogged this.
I love it!
With the leaked Pokemon Gold 97 beta that hit the internet a week ago, I had to make fanart of the Pokemon that I really liked. Some old designs I liked more, and some where Pokemon never saw the light of day. It’s kind of amazing to know these creatures exist at one point, and could have been part of the original 251. Enjoy!
For each of these Beta Pokemon, my goal was to name them after their post-Beta versions: Aqaromerus reflects the unique conventions of Feraligatr’s name, dropping an otherwise-essential vowel. (Merus is also a common suffix in plesiosaur names.) Cyndakoal is fairly straightforward. I don’t really like the name but it does a good job of combining bear theme (koala) with fire theme (coal) while also referring forward to Cyndaquil. And Baeleaf is just adorable, so bae it is.
Baeleaf provides a mixed bag of buffs and debuffs, also conferring an immunity to status tokens. As its design implies, being active with Baeleaf sorta paints an enormous target on its chest. But this little flower pixie is solid for the cost.
Aqaromerus requires dedicated terrain choices* but is otherwise amazing. It brings a lot to a team properly built around it: mobility, ranged and area attacks, curing, healing.
*Before each battle, all players have an opportunity to add different terrain pieces to the map. This enables teams reliant on water (or lava, or desert, or rocks, etc.) to always have the terrain they need.
Is no one gonna mention that Remoraids Beta design was just a gun??
Nintendo???
THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW, THOUGH
My entire life I NEVER understood why they made a fish that evolved into an octopus.
With their beta designs though, they’re still unrelated animals, but they’re linked in that they’re both based on aquatic creatures known for shooting something (water and ink, respectively).
This old image makes a lot more sense now!
also the connection between the pre-evolution and evolved form has been speculated to come from the theme of “suckers”–remoras have one on their mouths and octopi have them on their tentacles (and also on their mouths when they’re stylized like Octillery is)
#GALARREMORED AS POKEMON GUN MASCOT
I don’t understand why I just can’t hit this peak fluffiness more often.
