The man he faced was everything Obi-Wan had devoted his life to destroying: Murderer. Traitor. Fallen Jedi. Lord of the Sith. And here, and now, despite it all… Obi-Wan still loved him.

there is nothing romantic about it but the darkling/zoya relationship is just fascinating to me. i want to know more! how did they met, when did it start, who made that first move, did others know, i want to know because level of betrayal of what darkling did to zoya is truly unparalleled.

zoya isn’t just anybody, she is one of the most powerful grishas alive, she has her own amplifier, she was (along with ivan) darkling’s right hand, one of the people he could trust the most.

so i have to wonder… yes, it was unrequited love from darklings side, but he knew. so was he really just so secure in their “relationship” that he thought she would just forgive him for killing her family? for casting her aside for alina? or is he really that cold and just not care at all? (either way, he should’ve been smarter and not put zoya on that sandskiff)

agreed, it was really stupid of him to expect zoya to stay loyal when they’re not even in a relationship anymore! the show did that frustrating thing where when it is is revealed to the audience a character is the bad guy, suddenly they start acting like a moustache twirling villain in front of everybody at all times, including characters they really, really need to keep up appearances with 😒

this is especially bizarre with a character that is supposedly hundreds of years old and has been playing a perilous political game for centuries, acting under different names and keeping all these balls in the air at the same time. yet he has the impulse control of a teenager?

yeah, i found this frustrating on show!darkling, because even though i haven’t read the books, book!darkling seems just more calculating and, if i may say it like that - has more brain cells. i will forever laugh about the “i have patience” line because he has exactly zero of that WHICH is objectively absurd. the dide is ancient. he should play the long game, he should, after the the stag accident, take a breather and think about the next step but nah, he is off to annihilate half of ravka. - and that’s okay because plot has to move forward but at least it seems, in the book he has enough foresight to maybe not take zoya on the voyage to kill her family??? not to mention mal, like keeping him alive in the show is real cute and shit, i’m into that, but book!darkling trying to feed him to volcra is actually doing the smart thing (needlesly dramatic nonethless, but i digress)
