if you haven’t seen Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, you are missing out
Thank you for this. I clearly was missing out on a lot in my life. Knowing that this is the guy who Cinderella ends up with makes me feel SO much better about the first one. Of course this is the kind of asshole who would track down a girl based on 1 night of dancing and a lost shoe. Why didn’t we think of this? Well played, Mickey, well played.
The owner of the Parker Lands is contemplating using a private security firm to arrest protesters camped out on the property in Winnipeg’s Fort Garry area.
Kevin Toyne, the lawyer representing two numbered companies that own the partly-wooded plot of land south of downtown said his clients are willing to move against protesters who’ve set up an encampment on the land.
“The plaintiffs have every right just like every other landowner in the province of Manitoba to take reasonable steps to remove them,” Toyne told CBC on Wednesday night, just a few hours before large diesel-powered lights started to shine over protesters.
The owners also installed security signs and large overhead lights in other areas of the property.
The lights are the latest tactic in a bid to get demonstrators off the land following a failed court attempt to have them removed.
The Parker Lands are located south of Taylor Avenue, west of the Jubilee interchange. Gem Equities, a developer connected to the numbered corporations, acquired it in a controversial land swap with the city.
The developer wants to build homes and apartment buildings and has already clear-cut trees on the land, which Jenna Vandal, a Métis-Anishinaabe woman, calls sacred.
Vandal, who didn't want to be called a protester, but rather a “land defender,” said she’s not intimidated by the lights that now shine on the encampment or threats of arrest.
“We’re not moving.”
hey! this is an ongoing thing and in september, the land defenders will be needing help to fund legal aid: https://www.gofundme.com/481wbf4

Kenguru is a tiny electric hatchback for wheelchair users By Ellis Hamburger, theverge.com
Kenguru’s electric car has no seats, and you drive it by putting your hands on motorcycle-style handlebars. It’s built for wheelchair users, who can roll right through the rear hatch of the car into the driver’s area. The Austin-based…
THIS IS SO COOL.
fucking amazing wow
NO BUT DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW GREAT THIS IS? DO YOU REALLY? PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS CAN HAVE SMALL CARS NOW, THEY DON’T HAVE TO RELY ON EXPENSIVE LIFTS TO HELP GET THEM INTO CARS, THEY DON’T HAVE TO MODIFY THEIR CARS FOR THEIR NEEDS BECAUSE THE CAR IS ALREADY DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THEM. THIS IS ACTUALLY SO GREAT AND IT GIVES SO MANY PEOPLE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE MORE INDEPENDENT AND IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY!
Have I reblogged this already? Don’t care.
Also for those worried about prices: it’s about $25,000 when it comes out, so about the price of a mid-sized car. And there might be grants for it.
This is SUCH an excellent idea :D
great idea, i’m surprised it wasn’t thought of sooner
It’s gonna be such a help for SO many people!
Every single person in the automobile industry should be smacking themselves on the forehead.
My face is having uncontrollable spasms. Great. It hurts really, really, really bad.
I think part of why I have trouble explaining pain to the doctor is when they ask about the pain scale I always think “Well, if someone threw me down a flight of stairs right now or punched me a few times, it would definitely hurt a lot more” so I end up saying a low number. I was reading an article that said that “10” is the most commonly reported number and that is baffling to me. When I woke up from surgery with an 8" incision in my body and I could hardly even speak, I was in the most horrific pain of my life but I said “6” because I thought “Well, if you hit me in the stomach, it would be worse.”
I searched and searched for the post this graphic was from, and the OP deactivated, but I kept the graphic, because my BFF does the same thing, uses her imagination to come up with the worst pain she can imagine and pegs her “10″ there, and so is like, well, I’m conscious, so this must be a 5, and then the doctors don’t take her seriously. (And she then does things like driving herself to the hospital while in the process of giving birth. Probably should have called an ambulance for that one!)
So I found this and sent it to her. Because this is what they want to know: how badly is this pain affecting you? Not on a scale of “nothing” to “how I’d imagine it’d feel if bears were eating my still-living guts while I was on fire”.
I hate reposting stuff, but I’ll never find that post again and OP is deactivated, so, here’s a repost. I can delete this later, i just wanted to get it to you and I can’t embed images in a chat or an ask.
This is possibly why it took several weeks to diagnose my fractured spine.
Pain Scale transcription:
10 - I am in bed and I can’t move due to my pain. I need someone to take me to the emergency room because of my pain.
9 - My pain is all that I can think about. I can barely move or talk because of my pain.
8 - My pain is so severe that it is difficult to think of anything else. Talking and listening are difficult.
7 - I am in pain all the time. It keeps me from doing most activities.
6 - I think about my pain all of the time. I give up many activities because of my pain.
5 - I think about my pain most of the time. I cannot do some of the activities I need to do each day because of the pain.
4 - I am constantly aware of my pain but can continue most activities.
3 - My pain bothers me but I can ignore it most of the time.
2 - I have a low level of pain. I am aware of my pain only when I pay attention to it.
1 - My pain is hardly noticeable.
0 - I have no pain.
This … is very thought provoking. (By this scale, I live at 2; pre-migraine it jumps to 4; migraine is usually 8 but has gone to 9 or 10 often.)
Usually, I say my migraine is 6 or 7 on my personal scale.
This is 100% what docs want when they ask you about pain.
I think we need to go back to the era where there were strange, ancient, and unexplained artifacts all over the countryside that contained gigantic and immensely powerful pokemon. When I was a tiny child this episode blew my mind.
Early modern humans consumed more plants than Neanderthals but ate very little fish
Senckenberg scientists have studied the diet of anatomically modern humans. With their recent study, published today in the journal Scientific Reports, they were able to refute the theory that the diet of early representatives of Homo sapiens was more flexible than that of Neanderthals. Just like the Neanderthals, our ancestors had mainly mammoth and plants on their plates – the researchers were unable to document fish as part of their diet. Therefore, the international team assumes that the displacement of the Neanderthals was the result of direct competition.
The first representatives of Homo sapiens colonized Europe around 43,000 years ago, replacing the Neanderthals there approximately 3,000 years later. “Many studies examine the question of what led to this displacement – one hypothesis postulates that the diet of the anatomically modern humans was more diverse and flexible and often included fish," Read more.
What school supplies do I need for college?
Hi! My recommendations would be:
- a 4 ring binder (and plastic sleeves) - any brand will do really! I would recommend getting one per subjects since it saves running out of space if you try to fit things into one. It is also sometimes cheaper to purchase several at once!
- notebooks - I use a single Arc Notebook for all my subjects and love it. I find it easier to have a single notebook with dividers, rather than carrying several individual books. However any notebook(s) would be fine. You can decide if you’d like spiral, A4 or A5, etc.
- planner - this can be any you like or even digital version! I tend to go for smaller planner if I’m actually taking it to uni. Here is are some recommendations. Here is a review on the Mossery Co planner. Here is my 2017 bullet journal.
- pens - I would recommend getting a pack with a selection of colours. I usually recommend the Staedtler 432 pens since they’re well priced, easily accessible and come in packs. They don’t smear and have worked well for me. Other pens I like are the Pilot G2, Staedtler Triplus Fineliners, Zebra Sarasa, Muji Gel Pens. Obviously, you don’t need a million different packs!
- highlighters - I use the cool, warm and light packs of the Zebra Mildliners. I’ve used the Stabilo Swing Cool in the past and they were good! I think having a selection that matches your pens is so helpful when you’ve organised a colour code.
- pencil case - I only take a few pens to uni so my pencil is only small. I don’t think it’s necessary to take a huge pencil case so just any will be okay!
- etc - this goes for post-it notes, page flags, etc! I love to-do list pads and post-it notes to help keep me organised!
- printables - I’ve uploaded a few to my Tumblr and some more to my Etsy! (You can use ‘back2school’ to get 10% off any purchase!)
Hope this helps x
