Reasons why Mysterio could potentially become one of the Peter Parker’s most hated villains:
1) Most likely is controlling the Elementals in an attempt to make himself look like the hero. Which means he put Peter’s friends, namely Ned and MJ, in danger just to make him look good.
2) Taking advantage of Peter’s emotional state after recently losing Tony Stark by becoming Pete’s new “father figure”.
3) Being a master of illusions, we could get some emotionally-crippling illusions from Mysterio that could send Peter over the edge. Apparently, there is a scene in Far From Home that Tom Holland thought was too dark and people are speculating that it’s Mysterio using a Tony Stark illusion to toy with Pete.
4) From the comics, Quentin Beck is extremely vain and always wants to be the center of attention. If Mysterio is putting Pete’s friends in danger and messing with Peter emotionally JUST so he can get the fame for being a superhero, you can imagine how furious Peter will be at him.
4a) Remember, Peter spent all of Civil War and Homecoming wanting to be an Avenger, not for the fame but because he wanted to protect the world. Also remember, Peter was disappointed in himself when he almost used his Spider-Man identity to gain popularity points at Liz Allan’s house party. Peter is going to be livid when he finds out that Mysterio is just in it for the fame.
