I really cannot emphasize enough the mental health benefits of abandoning the idea that you're special.

This goes both ways, both "You don't have to do everything singlehanded" and "You're not uniquely awful."

This is something I came to grips with as part of years of recovering from PTSD and it was so, so important. Realizing that the worst thing in my life has also happened to so many other people was at first disappointing because I wanted to be special to give my suffering meaning. Then I realized that my suffering isn't what makes me special or interesting. And once I let go of needing to be special, I started paying attention to all the ways other people enrich my life and just became happier.

Sorry, I don’t care that Netflix shows are delayed, I’m catching up on anime from 1989.

Doing my part by posting about nothing but Star Trek TOS and Oliver Twist.

the last film i watched came out in 1922 😅

i’m binging MST3K eps from 1998

This is the same website that collectively imagined and made their own fanwork for a movie that was never real

Now imagining Legolas picking up a normal and very standard rock for Gimli and saying, "Is this a good one? The kind you like?" in a similar way to sending links via DMs to your most beloved mutuals that lead to fandom posts relating to their unfamiliar and strange Blorbos, who you know nothing about and cannot see the appeal of.

OK but also: Gimli picking up ordinary dead leaves off the ground and turning to Legolas and going "uh, do you want this?"

can’t find the post that’s already circulating about this now but there really is no medical privacy in star trek whatsoever. imagine if a stranger walked into your doctor’s appointment and asked for your medical details, your doctor obliged without question, and then the stranger demanded you be killed. bonkers
