Music: by Clark

@plazmataz / plazmataz.tumblr.com

Clark "Plazmataz" Powell; composer for video games, Homestuck, other things. This is my music blog.

I started listening to the soundtrack for Psycholonials, and realized that I've heard one of the songs before. Turns out The Influencer was originally a piece you made like 10 years ago called "Nepeta in Three" and it was a song I'd just listen to all the time whenever I wanted to feel happy. I'm really glad you got to use it in some official capacity!

me too!! psycholonials ended up being a supercut of my best b-sides that never got to shine. good catch remembering the nepeta track deep cut after so long!

today i learned that the song "together" from psycholonials is also the song "someday" used in the "high tide" animation, and today i also learned that you did the music for high tide, and. what is HAPPENING today (its really good, im just kinda blindsided by cosmic happenings)

AND THEN THEY HIT U WITH THIS GUY!!!

serenade and requited are easily the best pieces of music ever composed. if someone told me to write the quintessential song about love I'd say sorry but requited already exists

ty, now i have to write a version with vocals to live up to this

pet death mention -

This was the last thing I truly painted/drew before my hiatus, of our late cat Sinko. I've been torn about posting this, but I really feel like I captured her (even up until the end she was rolling around and asking for pets!) Her loss is still felt immensely, and blindsided me in ways I couldn't have ever anticipated. It's been months and I'm still recovering. Y'all I miss her so much.

small clip of a hymn, don’t listen too closely or you may find yourself in contact with undesirable powers

Being a homestuck fan is literally like in those cosmic horror type stories where learning knowledge that is not meant to be known by humans drives you insane and alienates you from others. like They dont know about the Homestuck Music Reference Visualizer

The Homestuck Music Reference Visualizer is a website that makes a web of every Homestuck song and their relationships to other each other. It catalogs every motif that appears in other songs and makes connections to them.

oh hell yeah, it’s a mind map of memory lane

i feel like people forget that homestuck had a lot of talented musicians working on it, not just toby

this bothers me mostly because one of the most iconic songs, Doctor, was composed by a trans person (she/her, her name was George Buzinkai, im not sure how she identified beyond her pronouns) who passed away in 2018. for all of homestuck's many flaws i think it's okay and good to celebrate art like this that came from it

i know i already reblogged this but here's Doctor so you can remind yourself what a great song it is

the song Doctor was a collaboration piece between me and Buzinkai. They made the super lush chiptune that’s the backbone of the song, and I arranged it with other instruments to try and really bring it to life. As one of the first songs either of us finished for the comic in those early days, we were both so proud of it ☺️

Rest easy, George. Your music still plays.

i’m opening some commission slots for music work! if anyone would like an original song or two, i’d love to work with you~

The idea for this “virtual pop star” came from my personal aspiration to create true pop music– of course, this would be impossible for me through normal channels. I’m trans, and my singing voice is decimated.

Undeterred, I’ve been experimenting a lot with vocal synthesis the last couple years, using tools like Vocaloid and sample-editing. The result is After Party Animal, the virtual idol behind these songs.

lyrics:

There in your eyes I see

What is there to do if you want me?

I see god, between

If you’ll take me back to your room, please.
