Palo Alto
After finishing reading Palo Alto I decided to watch the film this morning and honestly, I’ve fallen in love. The cinematography is beautiful throughout, the transitioning between scenes is seamless and the soundtrack is heavenly. I love how open to interpretation the ending is, it gives no definitive answers, leaving the audience without a conclusion - the lack of completeness helps to add to the idea the these kids are lost and confused, on the brink of adulthood without any real sense of direction along with the idea that their stories are just beginning, so there can be no closure yet. Gia Coppola’s directing is incredible, it’s the little details that really make the film. And James Franco is seriously talented as a writer and if you haven’t yet I absolutely implore you to read Palo Alto. Sorry for the ramblings but yeah.
