i was thinking about how the only thing i didn't love in the full barbie trailer was ken in the real world hospital, telling a doctor that he should be able to do surgery because he's a man, and doesn't believe that's she's a doctor as a woman. it's very un-ken of him—ken was created exclusively to support barbie. he doesn't have a real job of his own! if anyone understands women having real jobs, it should be him.

so i was thinking there must be something else going on, like maybe traveling to the real world opens ken's eyes to the possibility of a patriarchy and men having more power (something that obviously doesn't exist in barbieland). then i read this quote from greta gerwig:

and i was like "hmm maybe barbieland is like the garden of eden and he gets tempted with the fruit of knowledge lol" and then i watched the trailer again and saw that at some point BARBIELAND becomes KENDOM:

and i'm putting some puzzle pieces together…obviously there's still much to be explored and i think greta gerwig is a genius so i'm sure there are even more layers than i think but i just wanted to put these thoughts down so i can refer back to them in july!

when are we gonna get any good rtc fanworks where NONE of the characters are dating. i want to explore the characters friendships. i want to have deeper conversations about their interests and issues. i want to talk about penny and ezra's antics. i want to talk about how karnak became what he is. there is just so much more there that a big portion of the fandom isnt exploring because theyre so focused on making two guys kiss

here are a few of my fics that I like:

"The Very Little Things (things that seem so insignificant you might forget, 'til those little things are the only things left)" - Constance is lost in memories of the little things in life as she falls to her death.

"before i go" - Jane doesn't want to go back to life. She doesn't want to leave her friends behind. They help her get ready to leave. (i have a million better title ideas for this one now but alas)

"i'm on the brink of discovery, i think (but what if I'm dreaming?)" - Savannah Potts' eighteenth birthday. She comes out to everyone. (savannah centric, but does feature all of the choir + her parents)

"birthday girl" - Ocean's birthday hasn't been properly celebrated - or celebrated at all, really - since she was seven. Every year when her birthday rolls around, Ocean just wants to forget that the day is supposed to be special at all. That changes on her seventeenth birthday, when the choir shows up at her house to celebrate.

The happy hippy pot farm commune known as Elysium would be her only home for the first 13 years of her life.
